CaGamblers
12 team Performance Keeper League (We can't keep 1st rd picks from the previous season and we can only keep a maximum 4 players) my current first 3 picks are 1.5, 2.4 and 3.2 My following keepers and the draft position I have to keep them in: M. Bennett (4.10) N. Burleson (5.12) J Plummer (7:12) R. Williams (8.11 - Don't laugh - I like Ricky and a good smoke of some tastey buds once in awhile) I have been offered the third round keeper rights to Rudi Johnson for my 1.5, 3.2 and 12.5 picks and I would get Rudi and 1.10, 3.10 and 11.8 Here is a list of the available players: 1 RB LaDainian Tomlinson SD 10 305.5 153.0 2 RB Priest Holmes KC 5 301.7 149.2 3 RB Shaun Alexander SEA 8 275.5 123.0 4 5 RB Edgerrin James IND 8 251.4 98.9 6 7 WR Randy Moss OAK 5 234.9 89.4 8 9 WR Chad Johnson CIN 10 226.5 81.0 10 RB Deuce McAllister NO 10 230.1 77.6 11 12 RB Corey Dillon NE 7 228.0 75.5 13 14 15 QB Daunte Culpepper MIN 5 374.2 72.0 16 17 18 RB Clinton Portis WAS 3 217.5 65.0 19 RB Jamal Lewis BAL 3 215.9 63.4 20 TE Tony Gonzalez KC 5 159.5 62.6 21 RB Ahman Green GB 6 212.5 60.0 22 WR Torry Holt STL 9 205.0 59.5 23 24 25 26 27 28 WR Marvin Harrison IND 8 189.3 43.8 29 WR Joe Horn NO 10 188.8 43.3 30 31 32 33 QB Trent Green KC 5 338.4 36.2 34 35 RB Warrick Dunn ATL 8 178.6 26.1 36 37 38 39 40 41 RB Ronnie Brown ® MIA 4 172.3 19.8 42 WR Laveranues Coles NYJ 8 163.6 18.1 43 RB DeShaun Foster CAR 7 169.3 16.8 44 45 RB Fred Taylor JAC 7 166.1 13.6 46 RB J.J. Fenokee
Sounded ugly to me at first, but looking at it a bit more, it may not be that bad of a deal. Your keeper RB depth is non-existant. Taking the deal drops you 5 slots in round one, but taking a RB with 1.10 kills two birds with one stone since Rudi will be in your back pocket as well. That opens up your 2.4 pick to get the best value remaining versus forcing you to go RB again. One downside to this would be if the first 9 selections before 1.10 went all RB. That would sour this deal quite a bit in my eyes.
Dirty Weasel
I think you should study the draft strategy of the other teams before you make your decision. Obviously LT, SA, Priest, and Edge should be taken by the first 4 picks, but then what? Are those 6th thru 9th teams gonna keep RB's and go for Moss, Chad, Torry, and Marvin? Or maybe one of them will grab Daunte? If you say yes, then do the deal. That would give you Rudi and Deuce, and that's not a bad RB tandem. Oh yeah, another thing - don't forget to figure out who the guy that you trade with would be likely to pick. He may take Deuce from you! The owner that wants to make the deal with me wants to pick Moss so the guy that picks at 1.7 doesn't get him. The guy the picks at 1.7 is in the same division as the guy that wants to trade with me plus the guy at 1.7 has McGahee as a 4th rd keeper and Westbrook as a 5th rd keeper, so with that in mind he really wants Moss. I would assume that I would get either Chad, Marvin or Tory at 1.10 and still be able to get A. Green at 2.4. That would give me the following: 1.10 - Top WR 2.4 - A Green - RB 3.10 - Rudi Johnson - RB 4.10 - M Bennett - RB 5.12 - N Burleson - WR 6.1 - ? 7.12 - ? 8.12 - R. Williams - RB or if I stay put I would have the following: 1.5 - Deuce or Moss 2.4 - Tier 1 WR or A. Green 3.2 - Young Rookie RB or Tier 2 WR 4.10 - M Bennett - RB 5.12 - N Burleson - WR 6.1 - ? 7.12 - J. Plummer - QB 8.12 - R. Williams - RB We play 1qb, 2rb. 3wr, 1te, 1 kicker and 1 def weekly
