djwerdm
Our league is performance with a point for every yard and reception. Tds are worth twelve points. I have kept Julius Jones. PEyton Manning and McNabb are already kept. And i think the first two picks will go Ladanian and then Culpepper. With the next pick should I go with a QB in Bulger, another running back like Shaun Alexander, or a receiver such as Randy Moss or TO. ANy suggestions would be helpful. djwerdm
I would also like to add that the starting lineups are 1 QB 1 RB 2 WR 1 TE 1 PK 1 DT
General Itals
Draft the best player available, preferably a RB.
Adrenaline
I don't know why LT or Alexander are avaliable. If you can get Alex with your pick this is a no brainer.
BS Miscreant
Our league is performance with a point for every yard and reception. Tds are worth twelve points. 902556[/snapback] So in a typical week, if you have JJ and CPep you score approximately 400pts from just your RB and QB positions? djwerdm
with jj and c-pep i'd be scoring probably around 500+ a week.
djwerdm
I think the way my league is setup that the QB is worth more than a RB because they score around 3x the points a RB does.
ts
At a point per yard & 12 per TD, QBs do seem to have a bit of an advantage in the scoring scheme ... I've not heard of too many WRs or RBs having 350 yard, 4 TD games recently ... since you have Manning, and can only start 1 QB, get the next best available difference-maker, probably Alex or (at 1 point per catch) maybe Moss, but I'd go for Alex here. even with Manning in the fold, I'd also probably "waste" a mid-round pick on another starting NFL QB just as insurance, given the scoring scheme ... I mean, even Kyle Boller has some value in this league. [Edit] - Sorry, I mis-read the original post ... still, I'd go Alex, and get your QB in the next round or two ... after the top 3 QBs are gone (which they are), my crystal ball is fuzzy as to who the 4th - 8th best QB may turn out to be, so go with "sure value" in Alexander. LegFuJohnson
So TD's basically don't matter? A typical league with 6 pts for a TD... one TD=60 yards of offense (rush/rec), but in your league a TD is only worth 12 yards? Why bother? And why would you keep Julius Jones, if you can draft Shaun Alexander? You are spending your one keeper on a bench player? I'm going under the assumption that we're all missing something... but since you've already got an RB, I'd take Bulger, easy.
djwerdm
WE had to choose our keeper before the draft order was arranged. As of now i'm thinking of taking Bulger. Good Idea?
Balzac
I'm more than a little surprised that nobody has recommended taking TO or Moss. The poster here already has a RB and he can only start 1 - question then becomes whether the difference b/w Alexander and JJ is greater than the difference b/w Moss/TO and the rest of the WRs available. People keep saying that these 2 WRs are risky b/c of their volatile personalities, but I can't recall a time when their performances have been hugely affected by them. In short, they're the top 2 WRs in fantasy by a longshot and I think they'll stay that way this year. Bulger? I don't care how valuable QBs are in this league - Bulger won't be that much better than the next few QBs in line. I think you have to take the player that will give you the biggest point differential over the rest of the league . . . Moss or TO.
Dirty Weasel
Take Chad Johnson and thank me later
djwerdm
One more thing...I have the 14th pick in the second round. So will their even be a decent QB left by the time my second pick rolls around?
ts
I'm now totally lost in this thread. Please clarify: 1. How many teams in the league? 2. What are your draft positions in rd 1-2-3? 3. WTH is the scoring system? We already have the starter requirements, so are good to go there, right? djwerdm
there are 14 teams in the league, i pick 3rd in the first, 14th in the second, and 3rd in the third. We did a lottery for every round (make it more interesting).

djwerdm
nope, none of those guys were kept. the guys in my league aren't that bright. My team last year consisted of Mike Vick, Tiki B, JJ, Jimmy Smith, and Hines Ward. The other guys aren't worth saying. Last year I came in 4th out of 14 teams. This year the championship is in the bag.
