Fletch
Alright all you Browns experts, which of the RBs would you recommend? If you had to pick, would you gamble on one of the Browns or go for another back up (Toefield, Thomas Jones, etc.)? Thanks, Gary
yo mama
I think it will be Droughns' job by the end of the year, but that Suggs will be the starter in Week 1. Therefore, if I was in need of a RB to use as an immediate starter, I'd look to Suggs and cross my fingers that he held on to the job. However, if I was already stacked at RB and was looking to make a later-round investment in a RB with some upside, Droughns would be my choice. Adrenaline
I don't see whoever wins the starting job with the Browns to be very good. I'd try for some one with more potential like L Johnson, TJ Duckett, M Faulk, M Anderson or J Bettis if any are available.
Avernus
I like Suggs with the new QB and HC...the team has made moves in the right direction and I think they'll be a decent team with around 7 wins... thus allowing them to sustain more of a ground game with an improved defense...and yes, they'll be improved... Chaos
I like Suggs in the long run. Droughns I think more of a 1 year wonder. If Droughns was any good, he would have played with the other teams he was on and none of them, including Denver, would have let him go. Suggs has more talent, but needs to stay healthy. The Browns will be better this year but will still have a good share of struggles. None of the backs will likely be featured, with Green getting carries as well. I'll likely try to find Suggs in the late rounds if he's there, looking for a sleeper, but wouldn't count on him. But he'll be the best of the group in Cleveland. He also wore down late in the season because of this....and last time I checked, the Browns don't have that great of an OL...he runs with power, Suggs runs with vision.. Tboogs
I like Suggs...Reuben was playing Denver where anyone can run in that system...Droughns will be exposed as the Blocking Back that he is...
RokoMotion
I'm from near Cleveland, and I see Suggs as being a much more solid draft choice than Droughns. The Browns staff like Suggs, and my instinct is that they're going to ride him as long as they can. Despite the fact that I think Suggs will be the primary back in CLE this year and get a large percentage of the carries, I don't see the Browns as having a great running game this year. They're going to try to remove the ball from Dilfer's hands and hand it off, but their defense isn't stout enough to induce a grind it out style of play. I'd take another running back with more potential for some decent numbers in case of injuries like Thomas Jones or Larry Johnson. Don't forget that Jones was scoring touchdowns before Grossman went out last year.
1stimer
Here's my prediction ... take it as you see it Suggs starts at RB beginning of season but within first few weeks gets injured ... Droughns cannot carry the load fully and doesn't look as good as people thought he would and then Green comes in to surprise some people. I think the scenario is very likely. Now when it comes to drafting someone .... I would likely make sure you have two starter RB's and at least one handcuff (if that's your style) before going after a Browns RB. You may hit the jackpot, but probably not. Historically, I do not believe the Browns have had a RB put up over 1000 yds since Mack in 1985. The last time a RB put up double-digit rushing td's was Mack in 1986. I think those stats are still accurate. Some of that is most likely blame on Butch Davis ... as his teams were in the bottom 5 of rushing td's 3 out of the 4 years (ok, 3 3/4 years) he was there. They were also in the bottom 10 of rushing yards 3 out of 4 also (one year coming in dead last). So to predict how they will do under a new HC and new QB is a little difficult to tell, as it would be anywhere else as well. I personally, am not ready to jump the gun on any of these RB's because I do not expect much out of them this year as the many years in the past. I would much more like getting L Johnson or D Blaylock for if Priest or Cmart go down. Or T Jones or M Pittman in case for some reason the rookies don't make it or get hurt. I think there will be much more reliable options. The only appeal to the Cleveland situation is that you have a starting back, however, if you have to rely on a starting CLE RB as one of your starting fantasy backs, I would not want to be in that situation.
