funk
I am running a small 10 team league with friends from work. As far as I know we are all novices. A few of us have been in leagues before, but not too involved, etc. I'm first looking for advice on league settings. We are just doing a yahoo/autodraft league. These are essentially the public settings with only minor modifications. Does anything seem totally out of wack? As I said it's not a real serious league but it should at least be fair/fun. QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, W/R, K, DEF, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN <filtered a bit> Passing Yards (50 yards per point) Passing Touchdowns (6) Interceptions (-2) Rushing Yards (20 yards per point) Rushing Touchdowns (6) Reception Yards (20 yards per point) Reception Touchdowns (6) Return Touchdowns (6) 2-Point Conversions (2) Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (3) Then, given those stats or any suggested modifications, what is a good way to play the autodraft so that I might smite my coworkers? I don't need detail down to individual players, but I'm looking for a general draft order strategy to secure a solid lineup. If this is already covered by an existing thread or a site somewhere, I'm all for reading it. Thanks
Thews40
First of all, autodrafts suck. A live draft is the best part... JMHO. Secondly, team D should be one pick. 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D. Score 0.1 point per yard, and 0.03 points per passing yard. D gets +1 for every point held under 20, and -1 for every point given up over 25. Kickers get 2 for every FG and 0.1 for every yard over 20. -3 for MFG from <35, -3 for int/fum. 6 points for a TD, and a bonus 3 for >50. That should be enough to get you going. Have an extra draft slot? PS - Don't post a "rate my team" thread once you have drafted... we really don't care. If you wind up with Manning, Green, Tomlinson, TO, Moss and Gonzo, you drafted with specially challenged individuals where you should wind up with that team. If you drafted RB, RB, RB, QB, and wonder if your WR's suck... they do. You know it, so you don't need to ask. One more thing... free leagues suck, so make it worth at least something.
