SpinalTapp
I play in a 12 team league... I plan to go RB, RB with my first two picks. I have Javon Walker as a keeper and will use him as my #1 WR this year. I plan on reaching slightly for a QB in the third round....before my third pick, I expect my team could look like this... QB open RB DD (1.10) RB Martin (2.21) WR Walker (keeper) WR Open Flex Staley (keeper) TE Heap (keeper) K Open DST Ravens (keeper) I am sure the following QBs willl be off the board Manning, CPepp, McNabb, + keeper QBs Favre, T.Green, Bulger, and Collins. That leaves the following for me to grab in the 3rd round....Hasselback, Vick, Brady, or Palmer. Grabbing a QB is a reach to start in the third round...but keep in mind, all teams are keeping 4 players from last year that were drafted in rounds 4 and beyond. Most players you would take in rounds 3-7 are off the board. I am projected that in the third round, my alternatives would be JJ Arrington, Barlow, Driver, SMoss, Moulds, D.Mason, or T.Henry types. My instinct is to take either Hassleback or Vick. I need a high impact QB as my team lacks any star power...I have a grind it out team that should put up good numbers every week - but no explosiveness. What would you do? Would you take a QB in Round 3? If so, would it be Vick or Hasselback? Why? What do you think of this team if you add a 5th round WR like Calico or Burress? yo mama
My first question would be: how many other teams are keeping QBs? If you're the only one that isn't keeping one (which I doubt) you can obviously wait. Personally, I'd nab Arrington, then go for the best QB available after that. Because I'm not all that jazzed about reaching for Vick, Hass, or Palmer. Only Brady serves up some consistancy, but his upside always strikes me as limited. Circus Freaks
I gotta say that snagging another RB, such as Arrington, would be the way I'd go. A more proven RB is, of course, preferable. DD is a little injury prone. Best to grab a clear cut starter RB and wait on the QB until at least the next round. Seven teams are apparently keeping a QB. Assuming you know the tendencies of drafting of the other teams in the League, you should have a gauge on how the teams without QB's will typically draft. This will give you a better guide as to when the other four teams - you being the fifth - "should" grab their QB. Of the QB's you listed, and based upon your league scoring, I'd give Brady the nod. I have never liked Vicks inconsistency as well as DEF keying on him. Hasselbeck has only one primary WR left from last year, one new WR, and has to get used to Engram. May take some time, if ever, for him and his WR corps to mesh. Possibly take a look at Jake Plummer. The interceptions will drive you nutz...but...Plummer was consistently respectable last year, and can have some stellar games. Plummer was 4th in passing yards in '04 and managed 27 TD passes (plus one rushing). Plummer has his same receivers in place from last year. Moreover, if you believe in the "Age of 30" for QB's to hit their stride...this would be Plummer's year. Plummer's 2004 stats skew his career averages, but...he may fly under the draft radar of your League and allow you to grab an RB and perhaps another WR prior to selecting a serviceable QB. For what it's worth...that's my 2 cents Peace, Freaks

The quarterbacks you mention are all potentially good, but at best their upside is tier two...with the obvious exception being Vick. I just dont see that Vick is close enough to the switch going off that allows him to be a great qb. He can be amazing... All of that said, I think if you know your league and think that Reaching for a QB is a must for you...VICK. Just my .02... Good Luck
seminoles
arrington would be that bad of a pick. you have two aging RBs. But if you want a WB, take Vick :duck: i just like his upside.
Ralph Furley
If it were between Vick and Hasselbeck, I go Hasselbeck. Vick's "upside" gives me too high of hopes, only to be frustrated on a weekly basis. I had Ron Mexico in a league last year, and won't do it again. But I still say if you feel you MUST reach. Vick is the only shot of being HUGH given the QB's who are already off the board. I just wouldnt get to jazzed up by the possiblities.
