6th or 9th?

My local changed rules this year. Each owner pciks their draft slot based on the random draw. I drew 8 and assumed that is where I would draft. Now that its to me, 1 - 5, 7 and 8 are selected. That leaves me with 6 or 9 or 10-12. Is it a no-brainer to take the 6 or would you take 9 with the better 2nd rould pick?

performance, no reception pts, TDs = 4 passing, 6 rush/rec.

I'd choose 9th. The RB you will get will be about the same quality as the one you could get at #6, assuming that LT2/Alexander/Edge/Holmes are all taken in the top-5. I think McGahee/D Davis/Deuce/Portis are all pretty similar, and at least one will be available at #9, assuming Manning is also taken somewhere in the top-8.

I would drop to 9. I think that the RB that will drop to you will be the same type of back. It will also get you one of the top 2nd level RB's, like Rudi Johnson or a Jones or Dillon. It will be hard to wait, but I would.

Maybe someone will have a brain fart and take C-Pep before you and let an even better RB fall to you.

At 6 you don't know who will fall and you could get one of this group you will have at 9 and a worse pick on the swing back.

I am going to suggest a different route using the same logic. If the quality of backs does not decrease between 6 and 9, I think the same would be true all the way to 12th. As a result, you will get the number 1 selection in the second round and get two quality backs to start off your draft (assuming a "snake draft").

I would chose 12th if I was you for the same logic that the person chose the #1 slot.

I agree with most of the suggestions above. I would take 9, leaving me the better pick in round 2. At 9 you will most likely be able to get someone like DD or maybe Lewis. Then you can still turn around and get R. Johnson or C-Mart in the second round. Leaving you with a decent RB combo. Taking six most likely LT, Holmes, Alexander and James will be gone along with probably Manning. The difference between McGahee or McCallister who you would be able to get at 6 is less than the difference between what your second back would look like in that scenario.

I can see the argument, but, at #9 you could potentially end up with the 5th best fantasy RB, because there are several guys who could do that this year. But, by #12, as many as ten RBs will have been taken before you, meaning your chances of stealing a 1500 yd/15 TD back are pretty much gone.
