SLGRAF
I am always careful during my draft to try and avoid having bye week conflicts within each position. But, does it also make sense to do so across your entire lineup, i.e, making sure that your starting QB, starting RBs, and starting WRs each have a different bye week? I would not, of course, draft Kerry Collins ahead of Daunte Culpepper because of bye weeks. But, if there is little to no dropoff in talent from one player to the next on the list, making sure I will never have more than one key player missing from my lineup due to bye weeks seems worthwhile. I am sure others have thought of this idea; I am mainly wondering if they have found it to be worth the trouble, or, found it to result in a significant drop in their team's overall talent level? lynch
Honestly, you should get the best possible team you can. If you can get a great team and they all have one bye week, I would do it. I don't ever change a target based on bye weeks. That said, if I rate two players fairly evenly, I will take bye weeks into consideration. I have had a team that was mostly one bye week. I took a loss that week, but was happy with my team the rest of the season.
NAUgrad
Yeah, I used to really pay attention to that until I realized it just doesn't matter.
SLGRAF
"I have had a team that was mostly one bye week. I took a loss that week, but was happy with my team the rest of the season." So, you basically gave one of the members of your league a free win that week? Does that seem fair to the rest of your league? That win may have knocked someone else out of the playoffs. Personally, I want to have a chance to win every week, because there are enough extraneous factors that will prevent that anyways. I'd rather not give a week or two weeks away. Ralph Furley
I don't really pay attention to that. Obviously I try to not have my 2 starting RBs on a bye the same week, but I won't go out of my way figure it out across the board.
wolfden1
Pay more attention to the player's week 14-17 opponent's than to their BYE week, if you have to make their schedule a draft factor. You're not going to win any championships in week 5.

boat_hacked
Never give the bye weeks much consideration. It has only bitten me once in 10 years. 3 of 4 WRs were out one week, but luckily 1 was on IR and picked up a WR. And i still won that week(barely). SLGRAF
"You're not going to win any championships in week 5." True. But, you also won't win the championship if you miss the playoffs by one game, after having lost in week 5. Maybe you are in a league where your making the playoffs is a lock because the other guys in your league are idiots. Unfortunately, I have to scrap for every win. Steelhead
I only take it into consideration when I'm ranking similar players. If one has the same bye as one of my guys I'll go with the other one.
