mstrnewb17
i have the #1 pick in the draft. Do you think taking manning at 1 is a bad idea? im in a league where TDs are 6pts, no minus points for INTS and yards are the same for a QB as they are for a RB. I think its 2 points for every 20 yards. Let me know what you think.........
SLGRAF
I wouldn't take Manning at #1 overall unless it was a league where you start two QBs. Regarding the scoring rules, ALL QBs will benefit, not just Manning. I would draft LT2.
mibar22
in my league last year, the kid that won everything took manning #12... his rb's were barber who fell to the 3rd round and dunn... the fact that i cannot, off the top of my head, think who his WR's were, should say alot.. TE was Gonzalez who he picked 13th overall.. manning literally carried his team, scoring 40 points a week i would still take LT2, but would heavily consider manning too i have the #1 pick in the draft. timberho27
I would consider manning with the #1 pick at any draft that gives out 6 pts for a passing td. every league i was in last year the guy who had manning went to the playoffs, and mostly just because of manning. I've never thought to pick a qb in the first round ever, but this year i just might(in my 6pt/passingtd leagues of course)

I said that to say this, no team went past the first round of the playoffs! I like Manning, but I still can't bring myself to Take a QB and I have the #4 pcik overall. If you do, just go RB RB WR to follow things up! It makes sence to take Manning he is a Beast, I guess you will have to do what you feel, I've decided to go RB @ #4 but still don't know which one? The team that took Manning in my league didn't even play in the championship game last year.
notamomo
I would strongly consider Manning with the #1 with your scoring format. This looks like a strong year for RBs and I think you could do well with RB and WR in the 2nd and 3rd. Of course, you're probably looking at Faulk/Staley/Suggs (Dunn if you're lucky) for your RB2. It may seem risky, but you gotta figure that Manning is in for another record-breaking season. Think of Marino's run back in 80's. The Colts' offense is no fluke and defenses in the AFC seem weaker this year. Good luck.
SLGRAF
"Think of Marino's run back in 80's" Well, Marino threw 48 TDs in 1984, then had much less impressive stats the following year. So, based upon Marino's run, taking Manning at #1 makes no sense. If anything, Manning's stats last year help Edge, because opposing defenses will be WAY more concerned with stopping Indy's passing than their running. notamomo
Good point. And a point well taken. After further review: ‘84- yds5084 tds48 ints17 ‘85- yds4137 tds30 ints21 ‘86- yds4746 tds44 ints23 still a good run, but big dropoff in '85. It's just hard to see Manning not coming up huge again this year. With Harisson, Wayne, and Clark and Edge out of the backfield. It's not like D's weren't keying on him last year. Manning as a #1 is a gutsy pick, but could pan out.
LegFuJohnson
I think everyone needs to remember that Manning played the Ravens in Week 15. So no, I didn't get to my championship game either. I still go LT #1, but couldn't argue too much if someone wanted to take Manning.
