Last pick in the draft-What strategy do you use?

I'm in a 12-team re-draft league with standard scoring but we get 1 pt per reception and we start 3 WR's, a TE. and 5 IDP's. In the first 4 rounds, I have picks 12 & 13 and 36 & 37. My VBD cheatsheet is as follows:

1 LaDainian Tomlinson

2 Priest Holmes

3 Edgerrin James

4 Shaun Alexander

5 Domanick Davis

6 Tiki Barber

7 Brian Westbrook

8 Randy Moss

9 Willis McGahee

10 Chad Johnson

11 Deuce McAllister

12 Torry Holt

13 Terrell Owens

14 Clinton Portis

15 Marvin Harrison

16 Peyton Manning

17 Kevin Jones

18 Tony Gonzalez

19 Joe Horn

20 Julius Jones

21 Corey Dillon

22 Daunte Culpepper

23 Ray Lewis

24 Antonio Gates

25 Ahman Green

26 Curtis Martin

27 Javon Walker

28 Steven Jackson

29 Darrell Jackson

30 Donnie Edwards

31 Andre Johnson

32 Jamal Lewis

33 Reggie Wayne

34 Rodney Harrison

35 Tatum Bell

36 Lamont Jordan

37 Rudi Johnson

38 Jason Witten

39 Brian Urlacher

40 Keith Bulluck

41 Donovan McNabb

42 Hines Ward

43 Michael Clayton

44 Drew Bennett

45 Steve Smith

46 Warrick Dunn

47 Troy Polamalu

48 Kevan Barlow

49 Anquan Boldin

50 Laveranues Coles

Assuming the picks go in the order above, would you go Holt and Owens in rounds 1 and 2 and hope that RB's like Bell, Jordan, and Rudy Johnson are there and will be servicable? I've done the "Stud WR" strategy twice in the past and I won once and finished in the middle of the pack in the other so I'm not for or against this strategy.

After the 1st and 2nd tier backs are gone (RB's 1-9), I really don't see the urgency to pick up 3rd tier Rb's at picks 1.12 and 2.1 and maybe holding off until picks 3.12 and 4.1 might be a better strategy. However, if I do that my 3rd Rb would be at best Dunn, Bennett, Foster, some of the rooks, and Barlow. Ouch!

I'm very high on Kevin Jones this year so I might go K. Jones and Holt.

Thoughts?

I am not sure of your scoring system. I haven't seen many drafts, mock or real, where the RB's you have listed in your 3rd-4th round area would be available.

Rudi Johnson has been listed almost everywhere I have seen at or above the Jones pair.

This Cheat Sheet looks very odd to me. I am not sure if I would want to follow this ranking. But that is just my opinion.

I think I'd grab moss or owens and Kevin jones. With 1 pt per rcptsion though maybe even consider owens/moss, RB's the likes of Arrington, Staley, Bennett, Dunn will be available in the 4th/5th round according to most mocks ive looked at.

If you have owners who actually trade, owens/moss is good trade bait for a higher RB......

much help? didnt think so?

Really? You have R. Johnson above Kevin amd Julius Jones? My projections for the 3 are as follows:

J. Jones 1550 rush/rec yds 11 TD's

K. Jones 1600 rush/rec yds 10 TD's

R. Johnson 1400 rush/rec yds 11 TD's

We do get 1 point per reception so that makes the Jones' more valuable.

No. If the draft fall as you predict, I would take Portis and Manning at 12/13, and be ecstatic about it.

I have Kev Jones rated higher than Johnson, but I have Julius rated lower than Johnson. With the Bengals offense ready to break out.

And Dallas bringing in A-Train, JJ will lose carries and possibly TD's.

To each his own. We may be splitting hairs when it comes to those guys.

I think we are talking more that hairs here. KJ has bulked up, gotten even quicker if you can believe it...AND...had the easiest schedule for RB's in the NFL. He is going to break out big this year and put up Top 5 numbers. Can't stack the box against him, can't catch him. Plus...he is taking over the 3rd role from Bryson this year so add in the catches and couple more TD's as well.

Julius will break down...or...the only way to keep him healthy is to share the load with Thomas. Go KJ and Owens...if you go two RB's grab Rudi and KJ.

Before getting to the end of your post, reviewing your VBD rankings, these two were the ones I was going to suggest you take...

Didn't look at any of the other posts in the thread, sorry if this is repeat info.
