Need Keeper help

This is the first year my league is turning into a keeper league. I thought my choices would be obvious, but I have some players who are close so I am looking for some opinions on who I should hang on to and a possible trade. It's a yardage league, pretty standard.

We must keep 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, and 1 TE/K/D

We may keep 2 more players, but no more than 2 total at any position, so a total of 4-6 players.

QB Trent Green

Tom Brady

RB Domanick Davis

Julius Jones

Ahman Green

WR Larry Fitzgerald

Muhsin Muhammad

Isaac Bruce

Santana Moss

TE Antonio Gates

Jeremy Shockey

I am leaning toward keeping T Green, D Davis, J Jones, L Fitzgerald, M Muhammad & A Gates. I hate to let Ahman Green go, but I have to let one of them go. I have received a trade offer of Steve Smith for A Green (or whichever RB I decide to drop). I was hoping to find another team with depth at WR needing a RB, but unfortunately there is no team in that position. Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated.

I might keep Bruce instead of Muhammed(playing in Chicago). I think that you made some good picks. With Gates contract situation(I think he still hasn't reported) I might double check that and consider Shockey.

I would probably keep Gates still though.

As for your trade question, what other WR does this guy that offered you have? Can you counter back to get a WR better than Steve Smith, can you get someone who is a solid top WR, which is what you need.

Let us know what his roster looks like, if you can't get a top WR for a top RB I would rather let Green go back to the draft pool than let someone keep him for nothing.

Thanks for your replies. I have tried to dangle A Green out there for a better WR, but no one is biting. Right now the teams with good WRs are set with RBs. The one who is offering Smith has T.O., but he's not letting go of him. I will look into trading for picks - interesting thought on Muhammad. The draft order this year is really strange and since I haven't been in a keeper league before I don't feel confident about knowing the value of picks. lynch - why do you say it is better to let Green go back into the draft pool? I have yet to understand all of the nuances of this keeper stuff. Thanks again!

If you trade him for smith-are you going to keep smith?

I said if you aren't going to get a real solid keeper WR then there is no reason to trade Ahman. I was saying let him go back into the draft, because you have chance to redraft him if you let him enter the pool. This way you get one of the players you had to consider keeping.

If you trade him and don't get much back then someone else is keeping him and you have no chance to get him back.

The guy that offered you smith offer him Green and Shockey for TO, he might counter Green and Gates for TO and I would jump at it.

You don't state what you have to give up in order to keep a player (ie, draft pick in the round in which he was drafted, etc) or how many years you are allowed to keep them, so hard to advise for sure, but I'd look at keeping:

QB Trent Green

RB Domanick Davis

Julius Jones

WR Larry Fitzgerald

TE Antonio Gates

Jeremy Shockey

...I'd consider trading JJ for a decent draft pick if nobody will bite on A. Green, allowing you to keep Green and not lose 1 of your RBs for nil return. The only reason I'd consider keeping both TEs is in hopes that you can trade one of them for a pick or other position player (WR?) after the keepers have been declared.
