Lucky Jack
I'm in a ten team league, picking 5th...anyone willing to their strategies from the five spot in a ten team draft? Any thoughts on strategies from any position in a ten man welcome...I'd like to noodle over what to expect on draft night...
rpoet
Have been in 12, 14 and 10 team leagues. Obviously all very different. I think you grabbed a pretty good spot - at least in most years. I'm kindof happy being number ten this year as I don't see that much difference b/w five and ten this year. Biggest strategy is to look at the top ten qb's. Number six to ten is not so bad. Usually my strategy to wait on a qb b/c of this. Last year grabbed DNab at number 30. Worked ok, but in the long run wished I would have waited. At number 5 in this league my best strategy would be to wait awhile on the qb and on your 3rd pick AND THIS IS KINDOF IMPORTANT grab a TE. Either Gonzalos or Gates. I'm begging for one to be there when I pick at 10 in that round. There is enough depth at RB and WR in a ten team league that you can afford to do this. They carried both teams in my league that had them last yet. That is my biggest strategey play for you - of course if you know your league and know the draft strategies, maybe you can wait unitl the next round - but I think grabbing one of those guys mid third, early fourth is the play in a ten team league. SLGRAF
The main strategy I can recommend is to make sure you draft two RBs in your first three picks, because the quality RBs will all be gone by pick #36. But, other than that, I would take Manning at #5, if available, or one of Moss/Culpepper at #16, if available. If you start off taking two RBs, then I'd take the best available WR at #25, because I think it is a bit early for a TE, or any QBs other than Manning/Culpepper. At #25, it is likely that one of Moss/T.O/Holt/C Johnson/Harrison will be available.
jjpro11
no way in hell does gonzo catch 102 balls again with priest running the ball. gates will see many more double and triple teams then he did last year.. i dont like taking a te that early no matter what the receiver depth. kcmast
I would go RB first and then see what comes to me. A mid-teir 2 RB could fall to you and if not, you should have a shot at a Moss/Cpep. If you went RB-RB, then look for a WR in the 3rd....I like to wait on my QB unless there is very good value. I'm sitting at #6 in a 10teamer and I will be hard pressed to take CPep unless all my RBs of choice are gone.
