Trade offer inspired by my Steven Jackson for Andre Johnson thread.

My new keepers:

Julius Jones, Lamont Jordan

Reggie Wayne, Darrell Jackson

Heap

1st pick overall = Carnell Williams

I like it. How bout you?

I don't like it all!  Steven is a stud and will have lots of consistency this year.  You dont know what your going to get with Wayne each week with Harrison, Stokley and Clark playing next to him.

Clearly, if I agreed with your take on Jackson I wouldn't have made the trade. But thanks for the input. Also, I think I have enough young, up and coming RBs with question marks, especially after I add Caddy to my roster, so I can live with Wayne's "inconsistency".

I like it! You've upgraded your starting WR corp nicely and will recoup your #3 RB shortly with a RB that, IMO, has more long term upside than Jackson anyways. However, I do agree with Club that you probably could have gotten a little more than just a straight up trade out of this deal. (Sheesh, imagine if you could have also gotten an extra 8th or 9th rounder out of the deal, too).

I'd have wanted more than a straight-up trade for Jackson.

I couldn't get more than a straight up trade and I was growing increasingly uncomfortable with the idea of having, possibly 4 RBs that I would have to pick and choose from from week to week. I like having a pool of talent at a position but I'm much more comfortable knowing exactly who's gonna be in my line-up each week, especially when it means I've greatly improved anopther position.

it's a okay trade since you believe Jackson is not going to be a stud. Did you shop him around to see if maybe you could have gotten a little better upgrade than Wayne? Don't get me wrong I think wayne will be good for you. I'm just curious if you gave the other owners a shot at him.

I understand why you wanted Wayne on your team. You felt great at RB and wanted an upgrade at WR. However, you traded a #1RB and the outright starter on his team for the second best WR on the Colts.

On paper, you gave Jackson up for too little. I would have wanted a fourth round pick with Wayne or another player to ensure you received fair market value for Jackson. You gave him up for too little in return.

In response to your initial remark: Yes he is the #1 in name but in that offense with Faulk still there and Martz running the show he's not exactly a prototypical #1. Hell, Martz didn't utilize Faulk enough. Why should we believe he'll do any more for a guy with inferior all-around talent?

As far as getting too little in return: They are typically drafted about a round apart. One in the late 2nd, the other in the late 3rd. One is a top 20 RB the other is a top 10 WR. I already have 2 top 20(at least) RBs and I only have 1 WR. Could you justify getting more? Certainly. However, I have been very aggressive in shopping SJax and this is the best deal I could find and it happened to make my team better regardless of the 1 for 1, in a vacuum value.

Agree with above. I realize your primary goal was to upgrade you WRs...I just think you paid too high a price. IMO...this is one of those deals you'll be kicking yourself over in a few weeks.

Where do you see Jackson stat wise this season?

Where do you see Wayne?

The way I see it:

Wayne will likely be my #1 WR most weeks.

Jackson would likely not start for me most weeks.

Gave up way too much. Jackson is a future stud. He could possibly turn into one this year. Wayne has to compete for attention. RB's are were the money is in fantasy football. I would never trade a top RB for a second WR straight up. Good luck with your decision.

I'm predicting their numbers will be pretty close to even: 1200 yds, 10-12 TDs each. The difference though, is Wayne will have to bust his ass to get those stats and Jackson will do it splitting time with Faulk. If you can only keep players one year, Wayne may be a good short-term solution. If you can keep players multiple years...Jackson is a much better choice. JMO

this philosophy is most in line with my own. i wouldn't say you gave up way to much, but it's the difference in tiers that would concern me a bit....

i do think wayne is an upgrade from johnson, even with manning having so many targets..... in this case i believe that it only helps (system). getting a pick with the deal would have evened things out a bit......

good luck :D
