Ever seen a scoring system like this?

This year, one of my main leagues had thrown some added points into the mix. In a nut shell, the longer the "score", the more points you get. For example, a Rushing/Passing TD of 45 yards gets 2 more points than a TD of 23 yards.

Also, a Sunday where I rush over 150 yards, I get some extra points (same with pass and rec.)

 

The scoring is posted below. Is there a different way I should set up my depth charts? Or these "longer" scores for extra points are luck, there is no way to have them researched?

Scoring for Offensive Categories

FG - Field Goals 3 points

Plus +1 point for a FG of 30 to 39 Yds

Plus +2 points for a FG of 40 to 49 Yds

Plus +3 points for a FG of 50 to 99 Yds

 

FL - Fumble Lost, Including ST plays 0 points

Pa2P - Passing Two-point Conversion 1 point

PaInt - Passing Interception -1 point

PaTD - Passing TD 4 points

Plus +2 points for a PaTD of 10 to 39 Yds

Plus +5 points for a PaTD of 40 to 99 Yds

 

PaYd - Passing Yards 250 - 299 PaYds = +3 points

300 - 350 PaYds = +6 points

351 - 400 PaYds = +9 points

Plus a +12 point bonus @ 401+ PaYd

 

Re2P - Receiving Two-point Conversion 1 point

ReTD - Receiving TD 6 points

Plus +3 points for a ReTD of 10 to 39 Yds

Plus +6 points for a ReTD of 40 to 99 Yds

 

ReYd - Receiving Yards 75 - 99 ReYds = +3 points

100 - 149 ReYds = +6 points

150 - 199 ReYds = +9 points

Plus a +12 point bonus @ 200+ ReYd

 

Ru2P - Rushing Two-point Conversion 2 points

RuTD - Rushing TD 6 points

Plus +3 points for a RuTD of 10 to 39 Yds

Plus +6 points for a RuTD of 40 to 99 Yds

 

RuYd - Rushing Yards 75 - 99 RuYds = +3 points

100 - 149 RuYds = +6 points

PA - Points Against, Total Points Scored 0 - 0 PAs = 5 points

1 - 13 PA = 3 points

14 - 23 PA = 2 points

24 - 99 PA = -2 points

 

SACK - Sack 1 point

STY - Safety 2 points

How many days do you expect to rush for 150 yards? Who are you? What round should I take you in my draft?

 

 

But lots of leagues give bonuses for longer TD's. I'm not really a fan of it, but it isn't uncommon.

 

I don't think you change your picking too much.

We've been doing something close to this for the last 8 years in one of my leagues. If you use projected stats to rank players you can use them somwhat to move up the players who may average X yd's a game knowing they will get a few 150yds plus games, but then again these guys are typically the top players at a position anyway. (We use 100+ yds as a bonus, so a guy projected with 1400 yds rushing you can guess will get around 8 100+ games)

 

The long TD's are "mostly luck", but you can much guess who has a better shot a the longer plays and move these guys up within your Tiers on your cheatsheet.
