Ron Dayne?

I realize Anderson is banged up and Tatum Bell was injured early in the game on Sunday. But come on...Dayne as a starter. Everywhere I read people are saying Dayne may get his shot to be the feature back in Denver. Kinda like the situation last year with Droughns. Any homers have any insight on this situation? Being a owner of Anderson and Bell I am handcuffed to the Bronco's backfield. Just wondering if picking up Dayne and having him take up a roster spot is worth it.

Nobody wanted to admit it, but people that drafted him late knew he would get some sort of chance during the year. Just about every Denver RB gets some sort of shot, even their FB's get a score once in a while.

 

He'll be the most picked up RB on the WW this week.

It will be to late to get him if you wait that long. I'm not saying he is definately going to win the job or become the #1 fantasy RB if he does. I'm saying he is a potential starting RB for DEN (who has produced some unlikely productive fantasy RBs in the past) and therefore is worth a roster spot due to his potential upside.

Jeez, the ghost of Ron Dayne's football career rises from the grave yet again! Haven't we had enough hype about him in the past 3-4 years? Every year, we get a certain number of people saying that this is the year that Ron Dayne has worked out, got in shape, and is going to actually accomplish something offensively.

 

Sorry, but this baby needs a stake driven into it's heart right now. Ron Dayne could not beat out Tiki Barber, who is multi-talented and works hard, but he is not a prototypical NFL back. Ron Dayne could not even replace Tiki Barber in SHORT YARDAGE SITUATIONS! That alone should tell you all you need to know about Ron Dayne.

 

So by all means, pick him up as bye week filler, but while a rebound of Ron Dayne's career is a mathmatical possibility, don't go expecting 100 yards and a TD per game from here on out. More realistically, expect something below 3.5 yards a carry and a touchdown every 2-3 weeks.

Shanahan has never played the RBBC game. He's had to change starters a lot due to injury, bad blocking or turnover concerns, but he likes to have a go to guy in the backfield. If Anderson, Bell or Dayne can stay healthy and hold on to the ball, he will be the man in Denver.

 

I'm not counting Anderson out.

The only thing I like about Bell is his speed. He gets hurt too easily and has not stepped up enough to grab the starting job in the last year and a half, I doubt he'll do it now unless Anderson and Dayne both have serious injuries.

Saying Dayne couldn't beat out Tiki as part of your argument against Dayne is pretty weak. Tiki is one of the best RB's in the league. Now as for the main part of what you said there I tend to agree. Every year Dayne "looks great" and never does anything, so I wouldn't count on the world from him. He does however have 2 things going for him. 1. he now plays in Denver RB heaven. 2. he should get a chance to get some carries and show what he can do. Having those 2 things going for him is a big plus. Now will he actually do a thing? That is up for debate.

PLANET-DISSOLVING DUST CLOUD IS HEADED TOWARD EARTH!

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Scared-stiff astronomers have detected a mysterious mass they've dubbed a "chaos cloud" that dissolves everything in its path, including comets, asteroids, planets and entire stars -- and it's headed directly toward Earth!

 

Discovered April 6 by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, the swirling, 10 million-mile- wide cosmic dust cloud has been likened to an "acid nebula" and is hurtling toward us at close to the speed of light -- making its estimated time of arrival 9:15 a.m. EDT on June 1, 2014.

 

"The good news is that this finding confirms several cutting- edge ideas in theoretical physics," announced Dr. Albert Sherwinski, a Cambridge based astrophysicist with close ties to NASA.

 

"The bad news is that the total annihilation of our solar system is imminent."

 

Experts believe the chaos cloud is composed of particles spawned near the event horizon of a black hole (a form of what's called Hawking Radiation) that have been distorted by mangled information spewed from the hole.

 

"A super-massive black hole lies about 28,000 light-years from Earth at the center of our galaxy," explained Dr. Sherwinski.

 

"Last year the eminent physicist Stephen Hawking revised his theory of black holes -- which previously held that nothing could escape the hole's powerful gravitational field. He demonstrated that information about objects that have been sucked in can be emitted in mangled form.

 

"It now appears that mangled information can distort matter.

 

"Just imagine our galaxy the Milky Way as a beautiful, handwritten letter.

 

"Now imagine pouring a glass of water on the paper and watching the words dissolve as the stain spreads. That's what the chaos cloud does to every star or planet it encounters."

 

To avoid widespread panic, NASA has declined to make the alarming discovery public. But Dr. Sherwinski's contacts at the agency's Chandra X-ray Observatory leaked to him striking images of the newly discovered chaos cloud obliterating a large asteroid.

 

"It's like watching a helpless hog being dissolved in a vat of acid," one NASA scientist told Dr. Sherwinski.

 

Ordinarily, Hawkings Radiation is harmless.

 

"It's produced when an electron- positron pair are at the event horizon of a black hole," Dr. Sherwinski explained. "The intense curvature of space-time of the hole can cause the positron to fall in, while the electron escapes."

 

But when "infected" by mangled information from the black hole, the particles become a chaos cloud, which in turn mangles everything it touches.

 

"If it continues unchecked, the chaos cloud will eventually reduce our galaxy to the state of absolute chaos that existed before the birth of the universe," the astrophysicist warned.

 

Some scientists say mankind's best hope would be to build a "space ark" and hightail it to the Andromeda Galaxy, 2.1 million light-years away.

 

"We wouldn't be able to save the entire human population, but perhaps the best and the brightest," observed British rocket scientist Dr. David Hall, when asked about the feasibility of such a project.

 

But even if such a craft could be built in time, evacuating Earth might prove fruitless if theories about the origin of the chaos cloud are correct.

 

"A black hole at the center of Andromeda is about 15 times the size of the one in our own galaxy," Dr. Sherwinski noted. "It might be like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire."

 

Speaking under the condition of anonymity, a senior White House official said the president's top science advisors are taking the findings in stride.

 

"This is a lot like global warming, where the jury is still out on whether it's real or not," said the official.

 

"The existence of this so called chaos cloud is only a theory. Americans shouldn't panic until all the facts are in."

Another possible name to add to the muddled mix in Denver...I just read that they re-signed Quentin Griffin today. Kind of doubtful he'd get another chance over Bell, but you never know with Shanny. Interesting.

 

Griffin Back, Ernster Waived

 

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Quentin Griffin is once again a Denver Bronco, while punter/kickoff specialist Paul Ernster is no longer on the roster.

 

Denver brought back the 5-foot-7 running back on Tuesday evening, signing the third-year veteran while waiving Ernster, who was the Broncos' seventh-round selection in the April draft.

 

In returning, Griffin has a second chance to make an impression with the Broncos 11 months after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his knee. He incurred the injury last year against the Cincinnati Bengals and spent the months that followed rehabilitating. He did not return to the practice field until the team's mini-camp in early July,

 

"It was a roller-coaster ride for me mentally," Griffin said in July. "But I think things happen and you’re going to get up or you’re going to stay down, it depends what type of person you are.

 

Griffin missed the first two preseason games before playing in the last two. He then gained 89 yards on 24 carries in those final two preseason games, but less than 24 hours after the Broncos closed their warmup slate at Arizona, he was released as the Broncos trimmed their roster to 53.
