Is the Colts defense better?

Recommended Posts

Although very impressed with the way the Colts defense has been playing, I have to admit, I am not yet convinced. They really haven't played a good offense yet this year. I think they are better, but I'm not sure. However, looking back, here is a comparison of the same players they faced both last year AND this year:

vs. Ravens

2004 @ Ind J. Lewis 20 carries 130 yards

2005 @ Bal J. Lewis 16 carries 48 yards

2004 Boller 19/40 210 yards 1 TD 2 INT

2005 Boller 15/23 141 yards 0 TD 1 INT ....... Wright 19/31 214 yards 1 TD 2 INT

vs. Jax

2004 @ Jax Taylor 21 carries 68 yards

........@ Ind Taylor 20 carries 107 yards

2005 @ Ind Taylor 16 carries 81 yards

2004 @ Jax Leftwich 29/41 318 yards 1 TD 0 INT

........@ Ind Leftwich 23/30 300 yards 2 TD 1 INT

2005 @ Jax Leftwich 16/29 198 yards

vs. Ten

2004 @ Ten Brown 26 carries 152 yards 1 TD

........@ Ind Brown 19 carries 104 yards

2005 @ Ten Brown 10 carries 31 yards

2004 @ Ten McNair 25/39 273 yards 0 TD 1 INT

........@ Ind Volek 21/35 269 yards 3 TD 2 INT

2005 @ Ten McNair 28/37 220 yards 1 TD 1 INT

What do you guys think? I'm too much of a homer to be objective. Is the defense for real?

Hey Cap was that supposed to be 2004 and 2005 stats? But yeah I think they look vastly improved.
