Duchess Jack
other than being on a crappy team with a crappy oline and no QB? When will he be back? And will he ever put up numbers this year?
Swampnuts
I think he's lazy. He reminds me of Randy Moss without the occasional big play thrown in.
quincyxg
He has been pissing me off all year. I agree, I think he is lazy. What sux, is I feel he has so much potential that it cause me to not be able to pull a trade off to get rid of him.
Balzac
Any news on whether he practiced today? He's on waivers in one of my leagues and I need a WR now that it's looking like TO is out. I haven't seen anything yet . . .
Bill Swerski
Yep, Roy's one of the many reasons that my team bites this year. I don't think it matters when he'll be back, given that the Lions have no O-line and the only QB options are an injured Garcia and an impotent Harrington. IMO, he has little value in re-draft leagues.
BigJim
Yeah, paying top value for him last year after he'd scored 5 quick TDs wasn't the best move my dynasty team ever made. Hopefully he rebounds because this is getting ugly.
Skrappy1
I think he's lazy. 1117431[/snapback] That seems to be the word on him. About a month ago, Aikman was talking about the situation in Detroit, most notably about the QB situation and Harrington, but he said that he's had people from the Lion organization tell him that several of their WRs don't know the offense, and often fall asleep during team meetings...He didn't mention names specifically, but I got the distinct feeling that he was referring to Roy Williams and proably Charles Rogers too. He also said that he heard that Williams was vocally leading the WR group on a coup to have Harrington replaced (i.e. Roy is a very divisive presence). He further noted that Roy sometimes gives up on plays and showed video of one such time that lead to an interception because he didn't finish his route. He's talented to be sure, but it sure sounds like he's a lazy a-hole. Edited November 2, 2005 by Skrappy1
melrich
Mariucci should straighten him out. If you were the owner paying his enormous salary would you settle for watching him be "lazy"? What a joke. Lots of players have talent....few have heart.
Skilly
Interesting topic. The real question we should ask is how do you identify these traits ( laziness, apathy, fear, etc.) while they are still playing in college. The guy obviously has all the physical skills to dominate, and he did that at Texas. But was that because he was only facing moderately skilled college db's? Then, to take it further, do you draft a guy like this higher than a less skilled player, even though the less skilled player might be smarter and/or have more "heart"? Certainly in this situation, you have to lay blame on the qbs and the coaches. If he's falling asleep in meetings, you bench him and let the media know about it. Call out his manhood and professionalism and see how he responds. Personally, I say just simplify the offense. Let Roy run post patterns all day long and chuck it up for him to come down with. Instead, Mariuchi is content with 5 yard out patterns.
