I don't think it matters when he'll be back, given that the Lions have no O-line and the only QB options are an injured Garcia and an impotent Harrington. About a month ago, Aikman was talking about the situation in Detroit, most notably about the QB situation and Harrington, but he said that he's had people from the Lion organization tell him that several of their WRs don't know the offense, and often fall asleep during team meetings...He didn't mention names specifically, but I got the distinct feeling that he was referring to Roy Williams and proably Charles Rogers too. He also said that he heard that Williams was vocally leading the WR group on a coup to have Harrington replaced (i.e. Roy is a very divisive presence). He further noted that Roy sometimes gives up on plays and showed video of one such time that lead to an interception because he didn't finish his route. The guy obviously has all the physical skills to dominate, and he did that at Texas. But was that because he was only facing moderately skilled college db's? Then, to take it further, do you draft a guy like this higher than a less skilled player, even though the less skilled player might be smarter and/or have more "heart"? Certainly in this situation, you have to lay blame on the qbs and the coaches. If he's falling asleep in meetings, you bench him and let the media know about it. Call out his manhood and professionalism and see how he responds. Personally, I say just simplify the offense. Let Roy run post patterns all day long and chuck it up for him to come down with.
