Dirty Sanchez
Vermeil to retire at end of season. LJ just took a hit in the rankings for next year!

Czarina
I'm surprised. He does seem like a guy who can't moderate himself though, so he's probably burnt out...again.
Chief Dick
This could be the Chiefs saying, " We really want you to retire, because we don't want to fire you".
Chief Dick
Vermeil to retire at end of season. LJ just took a hit in the rankings for next year! 1243352[/snapback] I don't necessarily believe this. If anything, a new coach will not have that "loyalty factor" that Vermeil has towards his players, and will actually use Johnson to his full potential. Remember, a new hire will want to do whatever it takes to win, because his job will depend on it. Vermeil's weakness is that he is loyal to a fault, when clearly LJ was the best thing to happen to this team this year. That was clear from game one. StormChasers
It was my understanding that Vermeil was comfortable retiring if someone with-in the organization would be promoted to HC. If this is true then 1st I don't see this hurting LJ's value at all. The only thing to truly watch is how Vermeil's retirement affects other players decision (Roaf and Shields). The other positive from retirement is that this could propel Priest to retire which would make LJ "The Man".

That would bode well for LJ and for the KC Defense.
Egret
Not surprised. He came back after a long layoff and showed that he was a great coach. Maybe the real reason he's retiring is so he can come to Detroit!
