Mavs in 6 for the Championship

Miami benefits so much from playing at home. After the first two games of the series, I thought it was gonna be a easy sweep for them. Miami just looked dead. Miami looks like a totally different team at home. I said it before the series that I thought Mavs in 6 and I'll go back to that.

Miami goes as Wade goes....

Pistons won all three at home a few years back against Darin's Lakers :D to win the champeenship.

I will agree, 22111 is a must in the Finals; I don't care if it's Boston / LA or whatever. I mean Game 5 isn't until Sunday and they aren't going anywhere. The NBA could pull it off without much trouble. One extra travel day would do the trick.

WHAT? Magic and Byron and COOOOOOOOP and Big Game James and the Captain played a few years back? What did I miss? HUH?

How many f'in times do I have to say this? I can't stand the effin' Flakers. I was a fan of Showtime.

So :D take that.

And yeah I agree, and have already stated, that the 2-3-2 format is archaic. And was bad to begin with.

Dallas sneaks out a win on Sunday, and will wrap it up at home in Game 6.

Side note, I saw the opening line on last night's game was Miami -2. Initially, I actually liked the Mavs to win Game 4 - probably by a lot - and then get complacent in Game 5, knowing they only have to win one of the next two games at home. However, I wanted to see where the money was going... so didn't make the bet. When I got home last night, I opened up my sportsbook site to find that the line had swung ALL THE WAY to Mavs -1. LOL ... what?!?! So I went against what I initially thought and went with the proverbial "go against the betting majority" bet and took the Heat +1. :D

What a joke that Stackhouse got suspended. Just incredible.

Really? This is 2006 and when you blatantly perform a 50 foot sprint/body check on a superstar in a vulnerable position during the NBA finals while making no attempt at the ball whatsoever what were you expecting? The 80's were different but this is consistent with the last 15 years of the NBA. The water cooler talk at work was 1 or 2 games, no one suspected zero.

Stackhouse is a good guy. He wasn't trying to hurt him, just give him a hard foul to prevent the easy basket. The two guys shook afterwards and acknowledged it was all good. Taking Stackhouse away totally hurts Dallas obviously and that's not fair considering how physical the game was as a whole.

Yeah, the way it has been consistantly enforced - you knew a suspension was coming. That being said, the rule is a joke. The NBA, along with the NFL as well, is becoming so pusslified (is that a word) it is ridiculous. Back in the 80's & 90's you could commit a hard foul like Stack, and not even think twice, used to happen all the time. This new day though, they are gonna enforce it.

Kind of like the NFL in a way- you can't even hit anyone anymore without getting fined by the league, even if no flag is thrown. So many legit hits getting flagged & penalties called.

Pretty much all sports are trying to eliminate the cynical fouls, so I don't see why the NBA would be any different. The public wants to see skill players, not hatchet men (except in hockey, where the reverse is true).

Watch the replay again, Stackhouse body checked Shaw, but made an attempt at the ball as well. Hardly worth a suspension. Did you see Shaq punch Devin Harris, albeit probably accidental, yet nothing from the league on that. This is a snow job by the NBA, and hopefully my Mavs are good enough to beat each of their Opponents and the NBA front office as well.

I realize that Stackouse probably saw that it was Shaq and thought "I have to make a hard foul so he doesn't get a and one..." But for those who were suprised that he got a one-game suspension after hockey style body checking a player in the air is simply beyond me.

Its a hard foul that happens at least once in almost every NBA game, and players are not suspended for that kind of foul. Had Wade committed the same foul on Dirk, we wouldnt be talking about this, as he wouldnt be suspended. You can bet on that.

I disagree. Your statement is totally inaccurate, Wayne mabye get's a non-suspension in a year or two after he has cemented himself as a great player while sprinting 50 feet and body checking an Eric Dampier type player without making an attempt at the ball. For those calling snow job, this is nothing compared to the calls refs made in the 90s for guys like Jordan and Barkley. And Dallas had the championship in their hands and appear to be satisfied with letting a lesser team take it away. The refs have nothing to do with that.

Who said the refs were taking anything away from anything, its clearly the NBA front office that is suspending Mavs players in huge games, for ticky tacky doughnuts.

How is my statement inaccurate, you failed to discuss that. The foul was a hard playoff foul, and clearly a flagrant foul, but worthy of a suspension, get real. Look at this photo on ESPN, Stackhouse is clearly reaching for Shaqs right arm to prevent the shot.

The body check came as a result, ill give you that. But give me a break, this is hardly worthy of any suspension. Shaq is becoming soft, as he has now twice been knocked on his ass in 2 consecutive series vs much smaller men. What Ben Wallace did to him by blocking his shot, and as a result Shaq falling on his fat ass was an embarassment, and the stackhouse foul was almost as embarassing. Shaq in his post game comments states, I went back to shooting free throws the way I did when I was a good player. Well Shaq you are right, you are no longer a good player, and yearning for a compliment from the media or whoever else is rediculous. Most of America sees you as a has been. Shaq fouls on virtually every rebound, the way he nailed Dirk in game 1, with an elbow, and nothing was called. Shaq hit Stackhouse in the nose and caused him to get stitches. Bottom line is Shaq is so clumsey now, he gets away with fouls that no other player gets away with. Shaq should have fouled out of at least 2 of the games to this point. But as a Maverick fan, Id rather see Shaq in the game, than Mourning who protects the basket, shoots better free throws and is hungry for his first title, than the has been of Shaq who is getting calls because of past accomplishments.

I think Dallas rebounds in game 5, as Howard and Dirk will get going. Dallas has a deep bench to recover from Stackhouse suspension, and him taking up for his team, with that foul, will motivate the Mavs. Avery just needs to get this team motivated again, and moving them from the Miami hotel, to one miles away to avoid distractions may just be another brillant move by Avery. One fan in Dallas is hoping so. :D

It's acutually very simple, this is 2006 not 1980...the only time you saw a hard foul like that every game was when Bill Laimbeer and his cohorts were going at it...if you sprint 50 feet and body check an NBA superstar while karate chopping him in the face (which to some equates making a valid play on the ball) while he is up in the air, 99 times out of 100 you are going to get suspended for at least one game in the modern NBA.

The NBA and their referre's have always been notorious for extending a series and calling BS calls. The Mavericks haven't even come close to being dissed to the level of Michael Jordan opponents of the 90's or any team in recent memory. The Mavs and their fans should quit whining about an obvious and called for suspension and beat this team that they let sneak back into this best of 7.

After four games I've learned that Dallas is the better team, the Mavs have a championship mentality of an oat bran bowel movement, and I'd rather have Shaq on the line for a must sink free throw than Nowitski.

I think this statement sums up your thoughts, and you are clueless.

Dirk hit a free throw vs San Antonio with a second left to extend that game into OT, where Dallas ran them out of the building. Dirk hit huge free throws vs Phoenix in game 6, to steal that game in Phoenix and the series. Shaq is a FT liability, and when he makes them, which is less than 50% of the time, Miami fans can breath again. Dirk is a 90% FT shooter, and the Mavs as a whole gave away game 3. The refs didnt steal it. No one is saying dallas is playing the gray shirts in this series. Yet you keep bringing up the old days in the NBA where Jordans bulls got calls. The complaint is the NBA front office, which you cant seem to get through your skull. Ok it was a flagarent foul, and Miami should have got 2 FT, plus the ball. But in the Finals to suspend a player for a hard playoff foul is ludicrous. Watch the lead up to game 6 tonight, and every night on Sportscenter, everyone is saying that. You are the only one saying its worthy of a suspension, well you and the same NBA front office, that keeps suspending Mavs players for ticky tack doughnuts. But the bottom line is Dallas is the better club, gave a game to Miami to have this series tied at 2, when it should be 3-1 Mavs. But there are no excuses the title is right there for the taking, and its still my opinion dallas takes it in 6 games.

You are a frickin idiot. You had made some valid comments up until now. That last line however just lost you all credibility.

It has been such a physical series so far and to hurt one team so much in such a crucial game is pretty pathetic. Let them play on the court, please. There was no intent to hurt Shaq on the play.

Either way, Jason Williams should have just gone up for the layup and none of this would have happened. This isn't the and1 Mixtape Tour.

Dallas has no business winning this overtime game. I've never seen a superior team blow their load so much. Miami isn't great...but I hope they win because they deserve it more than the Mavs.

We'll see about that pretty soon.
