Whether you are a Yankees fan or a Yankee hater, you have to admit Torre is doing a great job with all the injuries this year. They just keep winning and seem to be missing at least a third of thier team each night.

Leyland hands down.

Agreed. Although, if Detroit fades like a lot of people think they will, and NYY win the East, Torre may win it. Too early to tell, though. Could very well be neither of them.

Personally, since it looks like my Twins aren't going to do much of anything this year, I would like to see Detroit hold on and win the division, and Leyland win MOY.

I dont think Leyland has to win the division or even the wildcard to win MOY. Buck Showalter did it with Texas a few yrs back and they didnt make the post season. New York still has more talent than most teams even with the injuries. That is the injustice or justice of it all, however you look at it.

I agree about Leyland. I think a lot of people expect them to fade pretty significantly. If they were to do so, and only finish around .500 or slightly (a game or two) above/below, I don't think he would win it. If they win 90 games, and still don't make the post-season, however, I think he WOULD probably win it. If Detroit finishes around .500 and the Yankees continue to have significant injuries all season and STILL win the East, I could see Torre winning it.

If I had to predict right now, I think Detroit will win close to 90 games, give or take a couple, but the Sox will overtake them for the division by less than five games. Not sure who wins the East, but given that scenario, I think Leyland would win MOY.

I do think Torre's a good manager, but the Yankees buy their Championships w/ an unending cash supply. There's no feel good story when they win.

Definitely agree about Leland.

Also ought to throw a few kudos to Jerry Narron of the Reds. They are on fire right now. It seems like they actually have some good pitching (unfamiliar 'round these parts) and he keeps juggling a lot of folks successfully.

Jim Leyland, no doubt. This team is doing incredible and will challenge the Sox for the division. I could easily see them actually winning the division with the White Sox getting the Wild Card. The AL playoff race is gonna get interesting very, very soon.
