i do absolutely nothing during the off season. then an hour before my draft is go online and print out the two most recent interboard challenge complete drafts. then i go buy a bottle of tequilla and go to the draft.

then i cross players off of the list as they are picked. when it is my turn i pick the highest guy from both lists that doesnt turn my stomach. then i do a shot and a bong.

in local redraft league that contain multiple dummys this pretty much guarentees a win. im also a real good waiver wire player buy checking message boards on mondays.

thats about it, other that having to go to the bank and deposit my winnings.

I print off the huddle cheat sheet and go to some other fantasy site for the depth charts....

I then put special makrs on the players I really want that are ranked a little differently in my mind and the players I don't like are already in my head as is.....but I need to know where the players I want are...

and that's it....the rest is preperation as commish.....

Ditto, I use the Huddle sheets with small adjustments for my own preferences. And I made up a custom sheet to fill in all my positions and their bye weeks so I know what positions I need to fill and so I don't have too many players with the same bye week.

But really, my preparation is beginning now, I'm reading up like a maniac and doing mock drafts.

i also noticed that if you join multiple leagues you get more money. :D

i do have a problem with being a prick and not getting invited back. that is the one part of my game that i need to work on. i dont really care about money and enjoy stepping on cocky eoples feelings more so thats how it happens. :D

exactly...I am an a$$hole commish and refuse to let someone else dictate to me how my league should be run...

and there's always 2 or 3 newbie whiners who start flaking out when they realize they won't be making the playoffs.....

I don't do much anymore. Probably fairly similar to the zman above as much as I hate to admit it. I do look at rhino's stuff and peruse some of the huddle stuff but for the most part it's cheat sheets, depth charts, and gut instinct. I try and buy low where possible.

My first few years in FFL (latter half of 90's) I bought a magazine on the way to the draft, maybe checked a newspaper for injuries. Overall, my results were on par w/ my preparation, which was not very good.

For the last several years (mostly thanks to the Huddle!), I do a lot more prep.

As for the draft itself, I rely on the research here, and "tweak" based on my own biases. I do NOT prepare my own lists and rankings from scratch.

My results in this millenium are far superior to the previous one (also based on work during the season). A few championships, playoffs most of the time, often win enough money to warrant a trip to the local riverboat casino, where I have also been fortunate in recent years.

comb all of the huddle content ... :D

i rely heavily on the mock draft summaries for my cheat sheets, complemented with the huddle cheat sheets. the mocks are great to scan, but sometimes can have some screwy results. i still read a few rag magazines as well, but more to find out what my lesser prepared competitors are probably thinking :D

my main work is to get a single set of cheat sheets that cover every position that i can believe in during the draft. i don't want to be sitting there wondering if i really want wayne over driver, even though i have them ranked the other way. YOU MUST TRUST YOUR RANKINGS. if you do, you aren't sitting there for 10-15 minutes trying to decide on a pick. you have to be free to react to what is happening in the draft, focusing more on who is being taken and how your competitor teams are shaping up. knowing what they need will help you shape your in-draft strategy, many times leaving a player on the board because you know he will still be there when it comes back around.

the other part of preparation is to be stout for the later rounds. this is where many leagues are won/lost. you have to have those players highlighted that you think are ripe for a breakout year (can you say samie parker?). have that list of players that you want to nab in the later rounds, but don't be too giddy about them prior to getting your studs.

finally, try not to drink the night before, or the day of. you have to live with this one night stand for months vs. just sending her home in the morning ...
