Enron founder Ken Lay dies

64-year-old former energy executive dead.

July 5 2006: 10:06 AM EDT

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Enron founder Kenneth Lay died early Wednesday in Aspen, a family spokeswoman said. He was 64.

In a statement, spokeswoman Kelly Kimberly said, "The Lays have a very large family with whom they need to communicate, and out of respect for the family we will release further details at a later time."

In May, Lay was found guilty of nine counts of fraud and conspiracy related to the collapse of Enron, the company he founded that grew into the seventh largest company before it imploded after an accounting scandal

though it is very tragic "if" he killed himself and it is still tragic when a human being dies at such a young age, I will shed no tears or pity on his death.

Personally - if it is true that he has died, I wouldn't be suprised if he killed himself.

He ruined a lot of peoples lives. I wonder if he felt remorse.

He only felt remorse for himself because he got busted. People like that have no feelings towards anyone else cept themselves and their families.

They should confiscate his estate (if they haven't already) and dump it into the 'former employees who he fokked fund' today.

He is/was reportedly $100 million in debt. But who knows what he has parked offshore and buried underneath his garden gnomes. Most of his and Skilling's assets were frozen as part of the criminal trial, though.
