The Misfit
Just in case it hasn't hit you yet ... The gas station closest to my home was selling regular at 2.62 a gallon this morning. Just drove by and the price is now $3.07 for regular. Never seen a jump that high in one day. If you still have time, better fill 'er up before you go home today ... dmarc117
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Oil prices jumped to a record above $75 a barrel on Wednesday, propelled by a rally in gasoline that analysts said could send average U.S. pump prices past $3 a gallon by the weekend. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/060705/oil_prices.html?.v=
TimC
That Iraqi oil we've been stealing for 4 years now is going to start pumping through the U.S. any day now. I swear.

Savage Beatings
Recent snags in oil-shipping and refining along the Gulf Coast have raised traders' concerns about motor-fuel supplies at a time when demand continues to rise despite soaring prices. The start of a new fiscal quarter also has brought more speculative money into the market, brokers said. What a load of crap.
Deacon Bill
I live about 5 minutes from an amusement park (Cedar Point). They gouge us locals year round because of it. I haven't seen $2.62 a gallon since before Katrina. Welcome to my world. Edited July 5, 2006 by Deacon Bill

I will be taking the boy there once he is old enough to enjoy roller coasters... and he better not be one of those girly-boys that don't like roller coasters. i_am_the_swammi
Man, you guys have been getting it cheap for some time. Been 2.95-3.05 here in the Philly area since Katrina, and this AM is selling at 3.15-3.20 at the local "low-cost" convenience stores. And just when I thought I couldn't possibly bend over any further.... Edited July 6, 2006 by i_am_the_swammi
Joe Cool
So.... When will it hit $5.00 a gallon? It seems like a lot of people gripe about high gas prices but their lifestyle hasn't changed. How high do the gas prices have to go before we start changing our driving habits??

How high do the gas prices have to go before we start changing our driving habits?? Well....I don't know how you change much about driving to and from work.......LOL. Especially if mass trans isn't an available option. But I highly doubt most of us do much Friday Night Cruisin' anymore.

But I highly doubt most of us do much Friday Night Cruisin' anymore. haven't done that for 20 years have you or anyone you know given up a weekend trip or a vacation because of high fuel prices? Mass transit is not available where I live (rural OH) but I could carpool but I don't. Maybe if fuel hits $5 - $6 a gallon I would.
TimC
The days of cruising with my mullet flying out the t-tops are as distant as $1.50 a gallon gas.
AtomicCEO
have you or anyone you know given up a weekend trip or a vacation because of high fuel prices? It's put a hold on my search for an RV. Plus, the VC money for my "gas-powered pants" startup has completely disappeared. Just another dot-com bust, I guess.
Joe Cool
As a kid our family rented a smaller motorhome for a vacation. 6 - 7 mpg with a small gas tank. We were stopping every 3 hours just for fuel Can't imagine what the fuel costs would be today.
