chonchito
my league is changing from a normal redraft to a keeper league this season. i was wondering how people structure their keeper leagues. for example, how many players do you keep, what is the compensation required for keeping a player, how many seasons to keep a player, are any players off limits to keep (like players drafted in first round). any help is appreciated. cmutts
my league is changing from a normal redraft to a keeper league this season. i was wondering how people structure their keeper leagues. for example, how many players do you keep, what is the compensation required for keeping a player, how many seasons to keep a player, are any players off limits to keep (like players drafted in first round). any help is appreciated. Two years ago I joined a 10 team league that expanded to 12. 3 keepers per team. Nobody who was actually drafted in the first 4 rounds can be kept. All keepers cost you 1 rd hirer the next year. Example player drafted this year in the 8th round wound cost a 7th next. No time limit on league of keeper until the become a 4th round pick. Example, this year I can keep Hasselbeck. Last year he was drafted in the 5th round. This year he would cost me a 4th which is fine. Next year however because he was drafted in the 4th he is unkeepable. Also through trading you may end up with two players who were drafted same round. Example say both were 6th round picks. If you kept both you would lose a 5th and 4th this year. Every team must keep 3 players. So drafting wisely is a must in the middle rounds and also waivers are key. A player who was never drafted would cost a 12th if kept. Big Country
Every league is so different, you really have to think about hat is best for your league. If you prefer simplicity, have a fixed number of keepers at no compensation, that way it is simple across the board. If you like complexity, set up contracts, etc. to limit how long a player can be kept and set up costs to keep, such as first player kept costs a first orunder, etc, or costs the round they were drafted in or costts a pick 2 round higher than they were drafted. chonchito
appreciate it. i know there are many different options which kind of makes it harder to make up my mind what to do. i like the cmutts style which seems to be a pretty common one. i don't think i want the rules to be too complex either. tomfin2000
I like the rules in the keeper league that I recently joined. You can keep up to six players but only three players that were on your keeper list from the previous season. I think that's a nice cross between being able to build a team and maintain some continuity while still having the opportunity to grab impact players in the draft if you had a tough season. For the first offseason, a good baseline rule (which we're more or less using) is up to six keepers but only three that were drafted in the first 6 rounds. Zooty
Many different options. I prefer keeping a starting line-up (or less). Lose no picks (so its to your advantage to keep a scub TE or Kicker). And keep the players as long as you like. I've seen varying amounts of players from 1 up to a whole roster (that is more of dynasty though). When losing picks usually no higher than 2 rounds prior to where you drafted him (got Dude-WR in the 5th, lose a 3rd). Limiting keepers to 3 years is also common. FWIW- The guy who drafted Tomlinson in my full-roster keeper, hasn't sniffed a championship and he's had him since he was a rookie.
