AtomicCEO
I was just down in our shipping department, and I actually saw our HP printer give the little LED message "PC Load Letter" "PC Load Letter?? What the f8ck does that mean?!?!?" Edited July 6, 2006 by AtomicCEO

Big John
"Paper Cartridge or Carrier" - Load "Letter-size paper"
DMD
That was one of the greatest movies of all time.
AtomicCEO
It's just a famous example of an error message that could be very simple "Out of Paper", or "Paper Tray Empty"... that actually makes no sense whatsoever to a layman. PC = Paper Cartidge, and Load Letter means to insert "Letter" size paper. But, in other countries, they don't call it "Letter" size... they call it A4, so it made even less sense outside the US. I registered over there as "Christ Puncher"... but then I started thinking that maybe "Two Sheds" would be a better username... so I've decided not to go back until I can work out my personal demons. A4 is metric and is NOT the same as 8.5X11 A4 is 210.0mm x 297.0mm or 8.26in x 11.69in

rocknrobn26
I'll nerd it up more: US paper sizes for blueprints: A=8.5x11 B=11x17 C=17x22 D=22x34 E=34x44

Otis
Hey Otis, seen Schick! recently? He is a really friendly gentleman. Aside from that one time when he did that one thing to me unnecessarily, I really like the guy.

That must be why I always have to scale down the files our German office sends to me. Stupid metric system... I hate it so much.

Big John
I'll nerd it up more: US paper sizes for blueprints: A=8.5x11 B=11x17 C=17x22 D=22x34 E=34x44 Then you have some State highway departments accepting the "b" and "d" as those, while others require 12x18 or 24x36 for "B" and "D". Then Wisconsin DOT had their own definitions of paper sizes. So they call for a "D" - but then call you on the rope if you send them a 22x34 instead of a 11x17 in which they were looking for. Swiss Cheezhead
Nice post, Atomic. Seriously, though -- I've seen "Office Space" much that if I ever saw that message on my printer/fax, I think I would reflexively smash the thing with my fist.
