How do you like your Steak

Rare to medium rare, depending on the cut. Anything more than that and it is a waste of meat. When I cook steaks, if someone asks for a well done one, they will never get steak at my house or for that matter with me buying at a restruant. They can have hamburger, or the sole of my worn out loafers.

Medium to medium well. As a doctor I just can't get past the whole E. Coli thing!! :D

Technically, the inner rare portion of a good cut of meat should have never been exposed to ecoli. The outer portions are seared or cooked to kill any bacteria. Just so you know.

BTW: Rare to medium rare depends on the mood.

Technically, you're right. I just have a thing about whether the meat is a "good" cut or not. And did the cook just throw it on the grill for a minute or two? Was that sufficient to kill the E. Coli??

I'm much more willing to go rarer if I or someone I know is cooking the steak...less willing in a restaurant. :D

Used to get Steaks well done and used A1 or Heinz 57.

Now, I get my Steaks medium and if I use Steak sauce, it is because the steak is lousy.

If you got it rare or medium rare you wouldn't have to ruin a steak with steak sauce.

Yeah, I now agree that steak sauce is ruining the steak, but, I find 'medium' to be flavorful. Maybe I'll give 'Medium Rare' a try though. :D

I'm medium to medium rare... my mom is a pure well burn it till it is leather person, so that is how I had it for many years.

Now, a family friend from New Zealand, when asked how he likes his steak cooked, will answer "Cut off the cows horns, wipe its a$$ and put it on the plate"

Hah.

My bro ran into this type of situation. He buys good steaks. His in-laws want their steaks done well. So, for family cookouts

My family: strips and ribeyes

Her family: what's on special?

:D Sounds like when I cook for my in-laws. "What's on special" and a tub of A-1 for the in-laws... kobe beef with a nice rub for mine.

rare, meduim-rare, or medium -- depending on things like my mood, what kind of steak, who's cooking it, etc. the flavor is fine and the texture is still pretty good at medium. goes downhill quickly after that though. the perfect medium rare, where the center is not totally raw but just warmed a little bit, is pretty much optimal IMO.
