Otis
Now that my girlfriend has finally threatened never to visit my apartment again after about a year of waking up to bright sunlight at 7am, Otis is finally going to make a move towards covering these bad boys up. Where can I find curtains/drapes, and the requisite hardware, for covering a wall of windows that is about 22 feet across and 104 inches from top to sill? I figure I will need two panels of about 124" across by 104" tall. Also, I am not very handy, not very bright, and know jack about prettying up a home. Thanks in advance. Otis
Wouldn't it be easier to get a new girl friend? Believe me when I tell you I consider this daily, if not for the fact that I fall in love 10 times with random women I walk past on the street every day, then for the fact that another girl may be more a morning person and not mind the absence of drapes. BiPolarBear
JC Penney has a pretty good selection of draperies. Penny's does have good deals. You need to ask the people working in the draperies department when they will be having some kind of sale to get your cost down. Oh yeah, before you guys get the idea that I am some kind of interior designer, I should tell you that my wife worked in that department at Pennys. They will ask you about the colors in your room. (Take some samples from the room with you, you will never get the color shades right without it.) The thing you may not be ready for is the cost. The window in our family room is close to the size you described and we spent $400.

I was looking at Pottery Barn, which has similarly-sized drapes available, and it looked to be in the 400-500 range. I bet I can even get under 400 at Penny's. Thanks. montster
just curious, where in brooklyn are you? we're in park slope. if you have a car, there's a lowe's and home depot less than a mile from each other near us. there are all kinds of cheap curtain rods there in various sizes. if you can't find something at once place, i'm sure the other place would have it. we have curtains about 96 inches long that we got at ikea. but you'd have to go to jersey or long island for those. everything was easy to put up, though, and it works pretty well. Awesome, I'm right on the edge of town from you, on Dean Street in Prospect Heights (right over near Atlantic Terminal). A good buddy of mine and his wife live in Park Slope on 5th ave, and I spend a good deal of time wandering down that way (in fact, the girlfriend and I did dinner at a small greek restaurant and then headed down 5th to that great ice cream place for dessert). Anyway, thanks for the tips. I do not have a car, but I can jump a cab and do some shopping that way.

Pottery Barn does have some very nice draperies (that's where we got some of ours), but they can be spendy. You can find some decent stuff for much better prices simply at Target. It's not as big of a selection and not as high quality material though at Target... so it depends on what you are going for.

BiggieFries
Why not just some vericle blinds? For a window that size could run you around $150-$200 (without installation or delivery). Half the price of those fufu curtains!

Perchoutofwater
Go get some aluminum foil and cover your windows. I wouldn't advise this if you live in hotter areas, unless you have high performance glazing it will cause your windows to crack.
