reddogs2020
One of the best fight scenes I have ever seen last night (with no weapons...other than the 2x4 at the end of it). This season of Deadwood is GREAT so far.

Rebellab
Mrs. Rebellab went to the bathroom right before the fight scene, and she heard me screaming when Dan made his "move". I can see a lot, accidents, suicides, etc. I can't handle shiate like that. Even if it is on TV. BTW: I was in Deadwood Saturday night for a bachelor party. Had supper at Costner's restuarant and played some hold'em. Saw two full houses and a four of a kind all in the same hand. These guys have gotten so they play everything. So if there is a good hand out there, someone usually has it your pair ain't gonna hold up.
muck
This is the last season of Deadwood? What's up w/ dat?
georgemoe
This is the last season of Deadwood? What's up w/ dat? Basically HBO let the actors contracts lapse. Milch intended that the series would never last past season 4 since, Deadwood was really only a going concern for 4 years. At least that's what I thought I read. Rumor has it that season 4 could be encapsulated in a 2 hour movie.
muck
4yrs? Heck, we've not even seen a winter there yet. How do I, as a viewer, know that 4yrs have gone by? :grumble grumble grumble:

Rumor has it that season 4 could be encapsulated in a 2 hour movie. Read the same about the movie. The article I read a couple months ago said production costs were over $5 million an episode. The first season cost over $100 million. I guess the DVD sales aren't going as well as they had hoped. And, you know, Milch writes a lot of the shows, and he's gonna be writing The Misfit from Cincinnati for HBO next year. Had HBO kept both shows, Milch probably woulda delayed production on both -- those HBO creators, like David Chase, tend to be a tempermental bunch -- and the shows woulda cost even more. As it is, they keep Milch around with a much cheaper show. And I don't think chicks dig Deadwood much -- too Apollonian -- and they pretty much rule our popular culture now. I think the dialog is just too beautiful for TV sometimes. When Al starts swearing in iambic pentameter, I get goosebumps. It's a great show for hi-def, and unlike most hi-def, it glorifies the ugly rather than the beautiful; the act of creation (raw and disgusting) rather than the final product (sanitized for your protection). I'll miss it. Here's something I found

Marauders11
Deadwood" will get a finale in an agreement apparently reached by producers and HBO after a month in which incensed fans mounted Internet protest campaigns and called for a "Cancel HBO Day" in the wake of the series being dropped. Variety magazine reported over the weekend that "Deadwood" creator David Milch and the premium channel reached a deal to produce what amounts to a four-hour finale - two, two-hour specials. Air dates and production timetable yet to be determined. Just as the third season of the irreverent Western is to premiere (9 p.m. Sunday), it was revealed a few weeks ago that HBO decided against picking up a fourth year option for the actors. Milch, who sounded off in the TV media the last few weeks about the decision, had said he was led to believe HBO was committed through a fourth season. Milch already finished shooting the third season with no real finale to his story.

muck
I still don't really get why it wouldn't get picked up for a fourth season. There is no real way to tell how fast time is passing by ... we haven't even had our first winter in Deadwood, and (supposedly), we're into our third year of character development? Puddy
Don't have HBO but was at a Holiday Inn Express in Richmond, KY last night. Flippin' through the channels and came across that show. Had heard about it from ChuckB last year but I didn't know that was what I was watching. The fight scene was pretty funny. Dude's eye pops out So I watched it off and on and notice they say f*cking a hell of a lot.
ChuckB
I am definitely enjoying this season, I think Hearst is a great character, but I was dissappointed that he made Tolliver (sp?) such a bitch and even Swarengin(sp?)to an extent. These guys were the bad asses of Deadwood and Hearst walks in and pretty much takes over. I will definitely miss this show but I look forward to HBO's future originals

muck
Bullock goaded him so that he could arrest him ... so that he wouldn't kill Swearingen or that Swearingen wouldn't kill him. IMO, it was for Hearst's protection ... although he didn't know that yet.

I think Bullock was genuinely fed up with Hearts killing people so he went there to bust him down regardless- I don't think Bullock was protecting Hearst at all, but the end result will be that he's safer in jail than on the street without his Captain. cliaz
I'm sorry but I can think of many other fights scenes that are way better than this one. I just watched it and was not impressed at all. Was it good to you all because of some built up crap on the show? I haven't been watching this season and just happened to flipped to this one right when dan was putting that grease all over himself. They Live fight scene between Rody piper and that black dude is way better than that.
