Yukon Cornelius
Between this thread and the Mushroom thread there is something to be learned. Single-time or limited casual use of psychedelics in a safe environment can be a good thing. Over-use of heavy psychedelics is not healthy for the old think-muscle. correct
godtomsatan
Astronomy Domine was one of the first tunes I ever learned how to play on guitar.

AtomicCEO
I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like, It's got a basket, a bell that rings and things to make it look good I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it. You're the kind of girl that fits into my world I'll give you anything everything if you want things.

BeeR
Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac had a long period of being a recluse after becoming an acid casualty and IIRC Roky Erickson did also. Oh cmon, hippies have assured me that LSD doesn't REALLY do any serious harm to one's health. And they are some smart mo fos. Well time to mooch money off of strangers so I can catch the next Grateful Dead tour.
AtomicCEO
Oh cmon, hippies have assured me that LSD doesn't REALLY do any serious harm to one's health. And they are some smart mo fos. I was a hippie, and I knew a lot of hippies, and I don't know anyone who would ever say that repeated prolonged use of LSD won't affect your head. See here for what people are really telling you, but you're not hearing.

This was hardly recreational use.

major-tom
Piper at the Gates of Dawn is a great album. Here is a brief but good article from the NY Times. Ursa Majoris
From the London Daily Telegraph's extremely long obituary: "If Syd was innovative at anything it was getting completely and totally out of it," said The Who's Pete Townshend. "Syd was able to get away with it because he could count on most of the audience being totally out of their brains as well."
'canes2004
Just one of the many cast of characters that I would love to talk to when I invent my time machine. RIP Syd.
