Question about Postage Meters

Ok, so I've completely had it with the company that we lease our postage meter from. The lease term was up and of course they've been calling for the last 9 months that we need to update the equipment by the end of the year according to new regulations.

I tell them to get lost pal. Pick up your meter and scale and get lost. Hit the road. Of course when the driver shows up, he wants to pick up the base of the machine that we own. :D The same day the driver shows up, we get a bill for $250 for equipment return charges.

We pay them $250 for them to pick up their machine. And they try to pick up the portion of the contraption that we paid alot of money for and we own. According to the terms and conditions we are obligated to pay them to get their outdated equipment out of our office.

I spend 25 minutes on the phone everytime I call them. I talk to a computer and you have to say "agent" to speak to a person. Of course that isn't one of the options that they give you when you call. :D

Help me understand!

Why do I pay somebody $250 for them to take their equipment back?

I have a new machine from another company. Works like a charm.

Because it keeps you with them and you have to continue to use their crappy equipment. Same thing happened to me. I just paid the fee and told them to F'off.

They treat you like you don't have any choice but to do business with them. Then when you call their bluff, they treat you like crap.
