Cyclones
So I play heads up with a buddy of mine once every week...low stakes, we each kick in $20 and play a freeze out, just to keep our heads up skills sharp for tournaments. Yesterday I just couldn't pick up a hand, but I managed to buy some pots here and there and was down 2-1 in chips. He called from the small blind, I checked with 9d-5d. Flop came 8d 6d 3d. He checks,I move all in immediately, he calls and shows 8s-7d. I say "count them up, you're drawing dead." He correctly notes that he has the "full house draw." (he also could have made quad eights I guess.) We both laugh and I flip over running sixes. I checked this on an odds calculator and I was 97% to win this hand. Ouch! So I shot him and took all his money. fixed

Big Country
Better to get your "bad luck" out on these small buy in games so the "good luck" gets you when the big money is on the line. I mean, luck evens out long term, rihgt.. so that does make sense.

Well, let's put it this way....given the opportunity, I would get my two cars, my house, my retirement, and any cash I own in on that play if I could. As would I. Just a case of bad luck. Frustrating, but those are the breaks. I can't blame him for calling there, but not saying that I neccesarily would have, I just can't fault the play on his part. He has top pair with a medium flush draw, but, with no raise preflop from you he can't put you on an overpair or high diamonds. Heck, in this situation, a lot of player would raise any two suited, so it is har to put you on the flush. He had to figure his 8 was likely good and that there was an outside chance his draw to the diamond was good. IMO a case where both players did what appears to be the irght play at the time, and one just got very lucky.

Right, as a matter of fact, I didn't even get upset over it, since I felt he made the correct play and I got outdrawn. No sense getting angry at the cards, right? The thing that irks me at the table is when a guy makes a TERRIBLE play and sucks out on you. I typically don't get all my money in unless I am a substantial favorite---at least 2-1. Alot of guys will get their money in to race...not my style, unless I am short stacked. And then you have the guy (see Kanter at last year's WSOP) who likes to get all the money in as a big dog. Those are the guys that piss me off, but over the long haul they are like ATMs.
