cliaz
Chris Chambers, WR MIA News: The Miami Herald reports Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey won't take as many deep chances as Scott Linehan did last season, but Chris Chambers likes his schemes. "The offense is going to be more controlled and more balanced," Chambers said. "Linehan liked to go downfield a little bit more. Early in the year last year, we were throwing up balls just to be throwing it up. Now there's a reason behind a lot of the stuff we're doing. [Mularkey] wants a tough, physical team. I like his approach." Analysis: Chambers had a breakout season in 2005, but this news can't be considered a positive for his current value. Still, he should be considered a viable No. 2 wideout and worth an early- to middle-round selection in all drafts.
Avernus
I might like this better.....especially if he does more slants.... deep, jump balls are too easy to cover....compared to a couple of curls or slants...if he's got the guts to go over the middle, that is.. Flip_Side
Not sure if this will be good or bad, you finally get a QB in Daunte who can throw the long ball very well, and u suddenly want to go away from that?

Flip_Side
that is one drawback....but they will throw some deep passes....it will just be better planned.... I guess, I wouldn't change anything about the Linehan offense. I mean come on itt worked wonders for Gus Frerotte.

I mean come on itt worked wonders for Gus Frerotte. ...I will agree that the Linehan offense is better suited for Culpepper..... I think Culpepper joined the Phins a year late....or Frerotte left a year early... the new offense suits Frerotte more and the old one suits Culpepper more.. Flip_Side
the new offense suits Frerotte more and the old one suits Culpepper more.. Exactly, maybe they're doing this because Harrington might be playing more than people think.
DMD
This is exactly what I expect to happen. While Saban was saying that the offense was not going to change and that they would still use Linehans playbook even without him, I could not accept that Mularkey was just going to follow a scheme he knows nothing about and not want to put his own mark on the offense. This is yet another reason why I downgraded Culpepper in the rankings (recovering from three torn ligaments a but more important) and why I have doubts that Chambers was suddenly taking a major step up after five seasons. The Misfit
Thre's even more important fantasy news on sportsline right now ... Jones wants to remain 100 percent Julius Jones, RB DAL News: DallasCowboys.com reports Julius Jones knows how important it is to remain 100 percent for an entire season. He's suffered shoulder and ankle ailments in the past two seasons, and head coach Bill Parcells is a little worried about that lack of durability. Analysis: Jones, who stated before last season that he wanted to rush for 1,700 yards and 20 touchdowns, is a talented back but most avoid injuries to produce. Fantasy Footballers who select him in drafts should also take Marion Barber as insurance. This is big news. Last I read, Julius was shooting for more like 64 percent. The fact that he wants to be 100 percent should move him well up the draft charts. Unlike the past two years, he wants to avoid injuries this year. I'd take him before Edge or Barber. Miami confident in Morris Sammy Morris, RB MIA News: The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins are confident that Sammy Morris can be effective as the their No. 2 back behind Ronnie Brown. Analysis: The Herald also stated that the 'Fins aren't guaranteed to add another back before camp, so at this point Morris will remain second on the depth chart. Minor a 'spare part' Travis Minor, RB MIA News: The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins are confident that Sammy Morris can be effective as the their No. 2 back behind Ronnie Brown. The article describes Travis Minnor as a 'spare part' for head coach Nick Saban. Analysis: The Herald also stated that the 'Fins aren't guaranteed to add another back before camp, so at this point Morris will remain second on the depth chart. Minor appears to be third on the depth chart at best, so he has little draft value. So, it would seem that Sportsline is projecting Ronnie Brown as the starter this year, although the high confidence in Sammy Morris could lead to a RBBC at some point. Better watch this situation develop.

Better watch this situation develop. Umm, this is a totally opposite report from Rotowire. (Rotoworld) Despite reports that Miami is happy with Sammy Morris, the Sporting News expects them to make a run at Michael Bennett. Impact: They will reportedly wait until late in training camp, which suits New Orleans fine. They want Bennett around until Reggie Bush signs and Deuce McAllister is fully healthy.[/b] Morris will never take that spot away from Ronnie Brown, your crazy. Duchess Jack
I see a lot of gamemanship in this. I Cpep is playing and having success throwing it deep - I do not see Miami 'not' using a weapon like that.

junta
that is one drawback....but they will throw some deep passes....it will just be better planned.... avernus is right here... the reason chambers saw so many deep passes last year is because about 90% of them were desperation passes-- the kind where frerotte says 'oh sh*t' and launches it and hopes for the best... i think miami surprises this year... especially with a pretty weak schedule... My thought exactly. Culpepper can throw it a mile and can throw it through a brick wall but timing and touch over the middle has never been much in his arsenal. This is not surprising with a new coordinator, regardless of the conventional wisdom that Mularkey was going to just use the same playbook as Linehan. CPep has to learn an entirely new offense. This is not surprising with a new coordinator, regardless of the conventional wisdom that Mularkey was going to just use the same playbook as Linehan. CPep has to learn an entirely new offense. Not only can he throw the long ball, but he actually gets pretty upset and pouty if he doesn't get the opportunity to throw the long ball. That's what was happening last year before he got injured. His short game doesn't have a whole lot of finesse, and he recognizes that his stength is chucking it deep, so he gets frustrated when he's not allowed to play to his strength.
