I think the scarest story I've read from him would have to be "The Mist".

 

 

That short story freaked me out.

 

My favorite stories/books by him are in order:

 

1. The Stand

2. The Mist

3. Gray Matter

4. The long walk

5. Cycle of the werewolf

6. Misery (the book was a million times better than the movie though I love the movie.)

7. Cujo

8. Thinner
