Atlanta Cracker
Anyone have a setup for using direcTV away from home at a tailgate? Basically I'd like to set up something that I can use 6-7 Saturdays in the fall. I have DirecTV at home but the dish is on the roof so taking it isn't really an option and that is how, if I understand correctly, most people do it. Any other tips for a cost effective way of setting this up?
Trots
Always had an extra dish, so it was never a problem. Just hooked it up to a power inverter connected to the Jeep and presto. NFL ticket at the tailgate.

Swampnuts
Get your hands on one of the basic small dishes. Find somebody who's upgraded their DTV to HD, and get their old one from them. You sink the dish in a bucket with either concrete / gravel / sand to anchor it, and take that bad boy on the road. I know some people have a seperate receiver and card they use just during tailgates. You can keep these numbers on file with directv, and only have them activate them for use during the football months. ( $5 a month for an extra receiver ). That way you don't have to disconnect anything from your home setup.
