I didn't really read your entire post to start the other thread and I came up with this idea independently--in any case it is a good idea.

There's a good case to be made for disengagement with everyone except for trade. [godsadvocate]...the problem being that the sort of disengagement you propose would NEVER happen - at best it would be a complete cutoff of diplomatic/humantarian engagement and most likely either a plateau or INCREASE in military spending.

Israel receives are support because they are the only foot hold we have in the middle east. If we turned our backs on them, do you really think that the rest of the bomb carrying muslim terrorist would just say "Hey, that USA is alright." Nope. It would never happen. There is no way on earth that all of the extreme Muslims would give the US which goes against everything they hold and regard as the word of G*d a free pass and never bother us again.

 

To think so is just plain stupidity.

 

There is something like 752 commandments in the Koran. Most of them point to accumulation of wealth or “coveting” which is a deadly sin to them, the way women should be in the social hierarchy and so on. The United States of America’s life style alone is all about that. Hording wealth, nice items, big cars, etc, etc, woman in office, walking the street in hoe great. Therefore simply backing off of Israel will not nor would it ever release the US of threat of a terrorist attack.
