Should we?

  1. 1. If the total withdrawal of support for Israel meant that there would never be another terrorist attack on the United States, should the US withdraw it's support?

I voted yes just because Israrel is as bad as the rest of the middle east. not because it would stop terrorists from attacking us.

Israel started this last eruption up by killing those palestinians that were at the beach. it is funny how the media can switch it all around though.

Israel is as bad as the rest of the Middle East? What does that mean exactly Doc?

It's the Arab states that are proclaiming that Jews should be eliminated from the Middle East or at least succumb to Islamic rule, right?

It's the Arab states that claim Judaism (and Christianity) are deviant religions, right.

Last I checked, Israel was the only western democracy in the Middle East. And last I checked Israel wasn't sending suicide bombers to go intentionally blow up innocent civilians.

You want to argue that the beach shelling was horrific and deplorable? That's fine, but are you suggesting Israel killed those Palestinian civilians intentionally? Come on! And are you further suggesting that the beach deaths are what precipitated the Palestinians crossing the border two weeks later and killing the soldiers? And what about Hezbollah's raid? Tit for tat was not the reason asserted by the culprits for either of those "missions!"

Israel takes up what...a percent of the entire geographic area called the "Middle East?" And Israel is home to thousands of Palestinian refugees who manage to live peaceful, productive lives among all those darn Jews!

Do you really think there is no difference between Israel and the rest of the Arab states?

And by the way, I voted an emphatic "No!" I pray we never make concessions to terrorists.

In my voting of 'hell yeah' it was not in concession to the terrorists. I mean - if they said, do it - and we'll leave you alone - I would not want to do it. But this question seemed so abstract - I kind of saw it as cause and effect type thing. Terrorism or no, I have never like the amount of money we tossed their way. The crap we get in return just makes me :D

Sometimes defending your friends means bringing the heat upon yourself... I've been at the bar at times where a friend of mine (one guy in particular) will get himself into a fight. Whether he is right or wrong, I'm not going to just stand there and let someone completely kick his ass. He's my friend. I defend him.

You and some others don't seem to get it.

The premise is no more terrorist attacks on the United States ever if we stop supporting Israel. Assuming that to be true, should the US withdraw its support?

assuming it was true, it would possibly be worth considering. but assuming it is true is an act of extreme returdation.

Put simply...how would you feel if a friend told you they had your back but when the cards went down they ran back to their house?

It doesn't matter if we support Israel or not. They hate us, they want to kill us. Not supporting Israel would not change that...not even in a hypothetical world.

I guess what prompted this poll is the unquestioned loyalty that our government, and many Americans, show to Israel. I mean, you would think that Israel is the world superpower the way that we toady to them.

The majority of people answering this poll would rather have our citizens be subjected to terrorist attacks than to withdraw support from Israel. This boggles my mind.

I guess what I still don't understand is what has Israel done to merit this? Maybe some of Israel's self-interests coincide with US interests. The enemy of my enemy blah blah blah. But does this really warrant placing Israel's interests above our own?

Well I think a lot of people who took your poll don't trust the arab devils even under a hypothetical.

I agree 100%, but the real question is Israel our Friend. That I think is a reach. So defending a friend of a friend or an acquaintance is different.

Personally, I think the US is stopping short of the problem here. If they just nuke that side of the world, it will solve almost everything. Sure just like Americans lost their lives in wars fought for centuries, but if there is no more middle east, no motherland for these terrorists to go hide. And we destroy 90% of them at the drop of a hat, people will start taking this country serious. No matter what kind of humanitarion effort we do, we are still the enemy to 90% of that side of the world. We quit wasting money on a war, like Vietnam will never be won, unless we end it with a bomb. What is sad is we keep repeating the same problem. Think about this, if we did nuke the middle east, do you really think North Korea, would be launching test missles, if they knew they were next in line if they didnt shape up.

I agree with this post 100%. I wish there were some way we could wipe out the Middle East without hurting innocent Israeli's.

It's interesting that you agree so wholeheartedly. I found the post so stream-of-consciousness that it was incomprehensible.

That post is chock a block with dangling participles, inconsistent use of pronouns, and bizarre sentence structures. Evidently, your reading comprehension for poor writing is better than mine.

Nope, I simply understood what he was saying and agreed. I recently talked to a retarded kid and while his grammar was bad I still understood what he was saying. :D

Are you calling Sarge retarded? I just insinuated that his writing skills were poor.
