DemonKnight
IM gonna go New School with this one (compared to all yer answers). I loved 28 Days Later. Defenitly the coolest soundtrack to a horror flick.
untateve
Does 'The Exorcist' count as a horror flick? I liked that movie.

Defenitly the coolest soundtrack to a horror flick. Yep 28 days made me f ing jump a few times- well made flick. Nightmare on Elm Street- only the original Shining The Howling
cheezhed
For me it's Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining". Nicholson is f'n amazing in that 1980 movie!!! +1 ....and on a more current note....SAW was pretty freakin good!!
PantherDave
"The Entity"-very creepy chit.
Chavez
Another movie I loved that probably doesn't seem much like a horror movie is "Shadow of a Vampire." Willem Dafoe gives an amazing performance that shoulda won the Oscar that year. Most people who love horror that I've told to watch it seem to hate it, though. Forgot about that one - LOVE it, though it at times seems to be more of a pitch-black comedy than a horror film. Dafoe is awesome (though that pretty well goes without saying). Clubfoothead
It isn't my favorite but nothing has ever scared the $hit out of me more than A Beautiful Mind.
Skilly
For me it's Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining". Nicholson is f'n amazing in that 1980 movie!!! This ranks right up there with the greatest movies. There is something scary about being a kid and watching this movie where the father of the family goes insane with an axe. Scared the crap out of me. Also, The Exorcist, I think is probably the best of all time. Edited July 18, 2006 by Skilly
Bengal Mania
Also, The Exorcist, I think is probably the best of all time. The Exorcist was the first R-rated movie I ever saw, on Showtime at my friends house when I was about 14 or so..... ....That was not a good choice, as it rather scared the bejeebus out of us. Still a very scary movie today. (Although maybe not a true "horror" flick?)
Cyclones
For me it's Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining". Nicholson is f'n amazing in that 1980 movie!!! That f'n movie gave me nightmares for weeks. F'n Redrum.....
Deacon Bill
As far as my "favorite" horror movie of all time ... it's a toss up between "Fright Night" and "Lost Boys". I enjoy the vampire genre of horror films (and books), and they were both good, fun movies. The scariest movie for me was "All that Jazz" with Roy Scheider. Okay, I'll stick with horror. I saw "The Exorcist" when I was 15. Couldn't sleep at all that night.
cre8tiff
As far as flat out favorites of mine, I have to say the comedies edge out straight shockers. While I would say Carpenter's "The Thing" is my favorite "straight" horror movie, the favorite-meter tips to the Evil Dead movies with Bruce Campbell and "Shaun of the Dead". cliaz
IM gonna go New School with this one (compared to all yer answers). I loved 28 Days Later. Defenitly the coolest soundtrack to a horror flick. Yeah. This movie has to be the best flick put out in decades. Well done. Very good acting. Basically two movies in one. "The Entity"-very creepy chit. I forgot about this one (this is the one where the demon/ghost would rape that chick?). This one freaked me out. What I liked the most about "The Thing" is it really wasn't a horror movie per say as much as it was about Paranoia. You never really knew who was the thing until it was too late. And even the ending you really didn’t know if they were cool or the thing. I thought that was awesome. If you all like video games, get “The Thing” video game that came out 2 years ago. It takes place 24 hours after the events of the movie. Pretty good stuff.
cliaz
Also for you Vampire movie fans watch the Sub Species series. They are awesome: nothing sh1tter than having a vampire that has an eating problem Part II. Radu is pimp part III - I love this series
satelliteoflovegm
A classic that just arrived here from Netflix is Re-Animator a must see for sure. Also arriving is Undead the Aussie flick, I will let you know on that one. Just sent back Wolf Creek, It wasn't great but it has been on my mind for a couple of days. Something about it just stuck with me.

Dutch Oven
But nothing in my whole life got to me like The Ring did. That movie just had something. It was really well done. +
jaxfactor
Re-Animator is a fun flick. I've wanted to see it again and have it my queue. Also will give Bride of Re-Animator a shot. Reanimator was some sick sh*t! But I still have to go with The Exorcist and The Omen. I haven't seen the new Omen yet and will probably wait for its video release. But anything with the devil involved gets me almost every time. Horror movies nowadays just don't cut it for me. Nothing is ever scary enough, although the very beginning of The Ring scared the p*ss out of me.

AtomicCEO
Blues Brothers 2000. I am a huge Blues Brothers fan. I've seen the movie 100 times... I've memorized it... I have their live albums. I can sing along with Rubber Biscuit. Big fan. I have never seen the sequel, and I don't think I ever will.
Chavez
Really? I thought it was pretty lame. Especially how the last part of the movie just totally shifted somehow. Never mind that it barely had an original thought - it was VERY well done, but highly derivative.
bushwacked
Wes Craven's first movie Last House on the Left (unedited) is great. One of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen. Much better than Nightmare on Elm Street even though I'm a fan of that also.
