Down Goes Frazia
for all those that have hi-def....... channel 662 (INHD) had a 2 hour concert last night - rush live from frankfurt...... man was it awesome. I caught it late so I missed the first 45 minutes or so, but it's on again tommorrow & friday. it's a must see for all rush fans. geddy lee looked like a gargoyle as he always has...... and his voice wasn't what it once was but nonetheless he was good. I believe he had throat cancer @ some point. Alex Lifeson has gained about 50 lbs. over the years but still sounded great especially when he played the 12 string. Neil Peart was FREAK'IN UNREAL .... it's like he never aged. He's a true percussionist and stole the show IMO. He's the best there ever was on drums.... end of discussion. check it out or tape it if you're a rush fan...... excellent show. amazing the sound they produce from 3 people. Seen it, it's been on about 28 times. Not a bad show, but the parts from 2112 stood out as far and away the best - they should have played the whole thing right through. jaxfactor
I guess there's no way to see this unless you have HDTV? I'm a huge fan of Rush's early stuff up till Moving Pictures, then I lost touch. I have a bootlag CD of their R30 tour(is this the same one?) where they start out with the R30 Overture. It's a meddle of songs from their first 6 studio albums but with a catch. They only play the music, no lyrics. It was cool though as they do songs they haven't done live in quite some time. About 1-2 minute segments of Finding My Way/Anthem/Bastille Day/Passage to Bankok/Cygnus X-1/Hemisheres. Then they start the show off with Spirit of the Radio with vocals. I wish I could see the show you're talking about though. Any way for Directv subscribers to get this?

Down Goes Frazia
I wish I could see the show you're talking about though. Any way for Directv subscribers to get this? no clue. I couldn't get the channel it was on until I went to hi-def. the whole channel is hi-def...... a variety of shows including MLB once a week... pretty cool channel. As for the same show you saw... not sure there either. I caught it late into the show. i do know it ended with working man & the encore was limelight. as ursa said..... 2112 was outstanding. and also as I eluded to in my original post.... it was filmed in Frankfurt. major-tom
Enjoyed several kick ass Rush concerts in my youth. I've been thinking about an old school Rush DVD. Any suggestions?
CaP'N GRuNGe
Never did like Rush, though i've probably one heard 2 or 3 songs. Can't get past Geddy Lee's annoying voice.

Chavez
For some reason, "Tom Sawyer" has been in my field of consciousness the past week or so. What a great tune - Geddy's bass is front and center (what a fat tone he has going!), Lifeson throws in a decent enough solo, though it isn't one of his career high points, and Peart puts on a total drum clinic. I can understand not diggin' Geddy's voice, different strokes and all that, but musically these guys are amazing. Not one of my faves, but much respect. Azazello1313
i'm not even entirely sure why, but rush is probably my least favorite band in the whole rock pantheon. they make my skin crawl. it's not just geddy lee's voice, though that is undoubtedly a huge part of it... All sports are fantastic on HD, even if you're not much of a fan of them. Enjoyed several kick ass Rush concerts in my youth. I've been thinking about an old school Rush DVD. Any suggestions? I like the very first album - Finding My Way, Here Again and Working Man are great. Apart from that, 2112 the 20 minute piece is awesome (the rest of that album isn't though). I'd have to leave it to others to recommend anything else.

Ursa Majoris
"Crap" I can handle, but "twee"? Look at this: Our first stop is in bogotaTo check columbian fields The natives smile and pass along A sample of their yield Sweet jamaican pipe dreams Golden acapulco nights Then morocco, and the east, Fly by morning light Were on the train to bangkok Aboard the thailand express Well hit the stops along the way We only stop for the best Wreathed in smoke in lebanon We burn the midnight oil The fragrance of afghanistan Rewards a long days toil pulling into katmandu Smoke rings fill the air Perfumed by a nepal night The express gets you there It's f'n rubbish. darin3
Any band that has a drummer with 360 degrees of roto-toms is alright by me. Lee's voice is a little annoying but the music is OUTSTANDING. I heard about this broadcast and made me wish I had HD. In similar news, I heard that Phish is broadcasting one of their upcoming live shows on IMAX screens. Man, I hope THAT finds its way to DVD. hepcat71
(Barf) Rush SUCKS. Period, end of story. I guess you guys must like Journey, Kansas and Styx too. (Triple-barf!) Don't even get me started on the stupidity of roto-toms.
