Azazello1313
(Barf) Rush SUCKS. Period, end of story. I guess you guys must like Journey, Kansas and Styx too. (Triple-barf!) Don't even get me started on the stupidity of roto-toms. yeah. i guess rush, to me, just epitomizes everything BAD and STUPID and MASTURBATORY about the whole 70s prog rock thing. wildcat2334
Never listen to em anymore, not a huge fan- but when 2112 hit- it was f in awesome. Definitely a different sound, but 2112 was an awesome record.
cre8tiff
Dang I was hoping Limbaugh got caught with oxycontin again and got 30 years in the pen. What a disappointment. The music's OK, but in small doses.
Ursa Majoris
yeah. i guess rush, to me, just epitomizes everything BAD and STUPID and MASTURBATORY about the whole 70s prog rock thing. I think they epitomized the way some bands went from being good hard rockers (their first album is good stuff) to flabby stadium entertainers with a better light show than music. The rise of punk in the late 70s can partially be ascribed to the remoteness and tiredness of the behemoth stadium rock acts.
Down Goes Frazia
yeah. i guess rush, to me, just epitomizes everything BAD and STUPID and MASTURBATORY about the whole 70s prog rock thing. you and hepcat can go get a room & have a circle jerk then. the fact that a rock band has lasted 30 years .....has put out more albums that you probably have in your whole library..... and still epitomizes everything bad, stupid, blah, blah, blah..... : go put on some yanni or john tesh & do some needlework az. You didn't have to masturbate in the 1970's. God hadn't invented AIDS yet to punish the gays, so there was free sex everywhere. Oh, and Rush rocks. Eh, while they have their moments of sheer wankery, I think they tended to be LESS indulgent than, say, King Crimson, Yes, or ELP. But whatever - I'm not the one dwelling in a thread just to crap on something people like.
jaxfactor
Pick one - the top two look good The second one(R30 tour) is the exact Frankfurt concert this thread was started about. Thanks for the info Ursa, I'm gonna get this.

jaxfactor
MLB is on 3 times a week, I think. All sports are fantastic on HD, even if you're not much of a fan of them. I like the very first album - Finding My Way, Here Again and Working Man are great. Apart from that, 2112 the 20 minute piece is awesome (the rest of that album isn't though). I'd have to leave it to others to recommend anything else. Listen to 2112 again. There is a track on that CD that is one of my favorites. It took me awhile to discover it but it rocks. They have never done it live. It's called Lessons. I agree that the first album was killer R&R. The vocals weren't very good though. I've always dreamed of Rush doing a tour with 2 dates in each major city. One concert with the "old" stuff and one for the "new". I'd buy tickets to the first show in a heartbeat. The newer stuff blows IMO except for a few songs. After Moving Pix, Rush started sucking big time.

They have never done it live. It's called Lessons. I did, fairly recently as I was digitizing my 2112 LP onto CD. I managed to fit in on the same CD as the first album, which is kinda neat, then played it in the car. I still think the second side (as we old LP devotees would have it) of 2112 is weak. When the first album starts up on the CD, it really puts 2112 side two to shame. And Passage to Bangkok is twee.

I disagree, while I really like the side one "overture" I prefer side two with the singles - some of Rush's harder edged songs. Listen to 2112 again. splotchman
Not a huge fan of Rush, but definitely do respect their music. Has anybody ever noticed that pretty much all engineers and computer studs of a certain age seem dig Rush? Speaking as a former engineering dork myself, it seems as if almost everybody I worked with worshiped Rush. Has anybody else noticed this?
