BigTen
Just heard an interview about the Lions. Lions insider, Tom Kowolski stated that K. Jones was badly mismanaged in his first two years (according to the new staff) and that the the new coaching staff wants to use this guy a lot. Stated that The Lions will work a lot on Jones catching the ball out of the backfield this year as well as getting his touches. They think he could be a player similar to Faulk, at least the way they can utilize him. Jones himself has stated that he is excited about this year. He may be somewhat of a sleeper/good value pick this year. I know some are scared off by him but I do agree that he was mismanaged in the past. With Martz as the O-Coord I think that Jones will have a lot better year. He may not be faulk but I like the idea of him being used like Marshall. Otis
Value pick for sure. He will definitely outperform his draft position. I almost got him as a RB3 in a recent 12 team yearly draft. That's just stupid.
Egret
It is training camp. Time for Lions fans to start thinking playoffs and beyond! Seriously, I get sucked into this hype every year. It must be something in the water.
irish
1700 total yards and 12 TDs. If he performs like that when he is being selected in 4-6 rounds, value pick will be an understatement. I hate to say it but he could be a big reason why some folks win their fantasy leagues this year.
Bronco Billy
If he performs like that when he is being selected in 4-6 rounds, value pick will be an understatement. I hate to say it but he could be a big reason why some folks win their fantasy leagues this year. Or he may not. Martz is not renowned for getting his backs a lot of carries, though they make up for it in catches. Also, Calhoun is lurking and is an ideal RB for a Martz-type offense. However, FF owners ought to be able to bundle Jones, whose ADP is 29, & Calhoun with a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick with a very late pick on the Calhoun handcuff and get a solid #2 RB who might morph into a borderline #1 RB, especially in ppr leagues. I don't think you'll get Jones by waiting until the fourth round, unless you're in a very small league & the cat goes stud WR instead of Jones. FishFreak
He'll probably be a solid RB2 this year especially if he's more involved in the passing game. Mariucci and his staff must have really been horrible. What the heck were they doing? He has to be done as a head coach....

I agree Jones shouldn't fall out of the 2-3 rds but I've seen it happen in mock drafts, albeit they're just mocks. We'll see.

There is an alternative, you know. It could be that Mariucci & his staff saw Jones in practice & games & saw that he was no better than a mediocre RB - and were trying anything they could to get a running game going. The only way that will be resolved is to wait until this season starts & see how Jones performs. That should provide a more definitive answer as to whether Mariucci misjudged Jones so badly, or if Jones lacks serious NFL RB capability. But I tend to think Mariucci and his staff just sucked. The team lacked disipline and didn't seem to get the most out of it's talent. Plus how do you explain the night and day performance of K. Jones from his rookie year to last year? Martz is a bit undisicplined with his play calling but he gets an offense going. I wouldn't at all be surprised if the Lions are much improved and K. Jones has a good bounce back year.

Pretty reasonable argument. I guess that's why I'd handcuff Calhoun to him late, though - just in case.
matykus
I pick 10th in a 14 man redarft league and if K Jones is available in the 2nd round I'll take him. And yes I suffered with him last year but I beleive the new coaching staff and system will help to improve his number drastically.

Personally I feel your draft slot won't allow you the opportunity to take him. You should get 2 really solid backs with your 1st and 2nd picks like, caddy and westbrook/ronnie brown/DD/Mcgahee. By the time your 3rd pick comes up if he's there that'd be great but you may want to fill other spots. There in lies the draft strategy do you go RB, WR, RB or RB, RB, WR, or (my favorite) - RB, RB, TE (Gates), WR, WR, and then best player hopefully another RB and then a QB. I'm also only in a 10-team league so that helps too.

The guy is good, Mooch just proved that he was one of the worst coaches in the league.

KJ left plenty of games with an injured shoulder and concussions.... when I traded him away with some random WR for Galloway...I got a steal... He wasnt hurt, and I remember him after the game saying he didnt know why he wasnt used more... Mooch was a complete jackass. Talk about riding on the coattails of Young, Rice, and TO... I like the idea of him being used in the passing game more Im a diehard packers fan, and I can tell you that while Mooch was in Detroit, he was my third favorite coach... Behind Mike Tice of course... You could always count on both of those guys to screw things up for their teams... To bad they're both gone... I'll miss them.
