Footballjoe
My 16 yr old son will be getting his driving liscense next week. He and I were working on my 1987 Celica GT that I had not used in 2 years. I will be giving it to him to use. This got me thinking about my FIRST car. Oh Baby! Brand new 1975 Datsun B210. It would go from 0-60 in 10 minutes. But it was mine for only $3200.00. That was about $97.00 a month for 36 months. I owned that car for 3-4 years before I had to get rid of it. Everyone I loaned it to, my dad and brother wrecked it. I had it parked at Va Tech and someone ran down its side before running overtop a couple of other cars. It cost more to fix the car from damage over the years than it cost to begin with. I got me a 1977 Audi Fox after that. Later I had a Capri. Those first cars were something to remember. Now I spend most of my time driving a work van. rocknrobn26
Not my first car, it was a POS, but my second. A 1967 (1yo) Mercury Caliente. It had a 289, but was pretty quick. I tricked it out w/ astros and painted the drums orange. I waxed that thing every week in the spring and summer. Edit for: Good luck to your son. Nice car. I had a '74 & an '84 Celica. Kid Cid
My first car was a 1976 Dodge Dart with a slant six for an engine. No matter how hard I tried, I just could not kill that thing. Going 4 wheeling with it. Blew a valve cover gasket and drove home 200 miles pouring oil in ever half hour. Welded the rear leaf spring boxes back in because of salt and 4 wheeling. Had that car for seven years. My dad had it for 4 before that. I sold it for $1200 (I kept it looking nice) to a guy who drove it for 5 years then pulled the engine to make a wood splitter. I think that the damn motor is STILL running.
darin3
For some odd reason, I wanted a Honda Civic hatchback in the couple of years preceding me getting my license. Never actually got one (although my third car was a Honda Prelude). First car was a 1982 Volvo. It was actually pretty sweet; aftermarket Kenwood stereo with 6"x9" speakers in the back that gave a good thumping, sunroof (manual, mind you) and well, um, it was maroon. After a year or less of driving the Volvo, I took over my Dad's 1969 Mustang convertible. It was one of only a few thousand made that year that had a 302 engine with the convertible. It was sort of a beater - I was in two accidents in it (neither my fault), it needed a paint job and interior re-do. I had put an Alpine stereo and small speaker box (which didn't work so well with the all-steel construction) in it. For some reason, my Dad thought it was time to sell 'er off, and some guy came from NEW ZEALAND to buy it. Yup, dude combined family vacation with coming to get a rare car. Probably a good move on his part - the thing is worth 9-10k even in crappy condition nowadays.
loaf
My first car was a 1974 Mercury Capri 4-speed (bought in '81 or so). it had a new paint job. nuff said.

H8tank
1986 Chevy s10 4cyl 4spd, totaled it. 1981 Pontiac Grand Prix, wrecked it. 1977 Old Cutlass, 350 Rocket, floor shifter, T-tops... awesome car... wrecked it. Bought a 1984 Mercury Capri at salvage for $400, wrapped it around a tree. Notice a trend? Sure glad I grew up.
Bring Back Pat!!!
My first car was a 1986 Dodge Daytona, five speed with 'turbo'. Thing sounded like a kids toy top, made this whirring sound when you dropped it into turbo, but it would move like hell! Needless to say, beat the snot out of it for a year or two then moved on to the next beater; Dodge Aries K, Datsun B2000 something or other, Dodge Charger, Pontiac Grand Prix, Nissan Pick up, Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic.....I think that's the complete list
Deacon Bill
First car was a 67 Volkswagon Beetle with manual transmission. I had to keep an ice scraper in the glove box during the winter, to keep ice off the inside of the windshield. They had no heaters to speak of. Put in a Fisher 8-track with an FM converter to boot. My favorite car was a 69 Camaro SS-350 that was completely restored and painted in 73 Corvette red. It had a cowl-induction hood, Hurst shifter with a rock-crusher transmission, Holley 850 double pumper carbs mounted on an Edelbrock manifold, Cyclone headers with a 2" exhaust, 4.11 gears with a 12 bolt rear end, Lakeland traction bars, white lettered performance racing tires from Goodyear, mounted on Crager SS chrome plated mags. That car would chit and git. Then I got divorced, and the rest is history.

ChuckB
I've had a lot of cars for the 14 years I've been drivin. My first car was a Vette! Dad gave it to me and I loved it! My 2nd car was a 1979 Volare given to me by a friend of my mom. It wasn't a nice red like this picture it was Maroon I beat the crap out of that car, but the engine still ran when I junked it (slant 6) My third car was a 1983 Honda Prelude, it was dark blue and I kinda dug this car until it started smokin on the inside My 4th car was a beige with brown top 1984 Buick Lesabre, what a boat But I loved that car. I had dual exhaust, Cragar SS rims, a Blaupunkt stereo, EQ, and 6x9's in it My 5th car (well truck) was a 1996 Ranger, the only new car I've owned. It was cool but didn't have enough room. My 6th car was awesome, a 1991 Mustang 5.0 Hatchback. It was dark green and pretty ballsy. Didn't have nothin major done just shorty headers and Flowmasters. My 7th car was one of my favorites, it was a very nice 1997 Thunderbird with every option but a moonroof, it had leather, spoiler, V8, everything. Same color as the one pictured here. I bought it with 13,000 miles on it and I loved it. Sold it a couple years later to get a car with a lower payment. My 8th car was pretty cool as well. A 1994 Camaro Z28 that was exactly like the one in the picture except the "Z28" was in black instead of red. It was fast with the LT1 engine in it. Heavy car but would roast em if you dropped the hammer. My 9th car , 1991 Grand Prix, I bought off my oldest brother for cash because I wanted no car payment. Big mistake, I hated this car. No fault of my brother's it just had a lot of little things that went wrong with it and I couldn' stand it. Finally the car I drive now, a 1998 Taurus I bought off Puddy. That's right, leather interior, Moonroof, spoiler, 24v 200 horse power Duratech engine, all that sittin on 15 inch family chromies, don't hate just because yer jealous TimC any time you wanna bring that POS Vette around I'll show you what a real car can do So there they are, all of the cars I've owned although they weren't the real pics of them you get the idea. Capt Skinman
Mine was a 71 Nova beater I bought for $300. You had to enter through the passenger side because there was no handle on the driver's side and it was held together with a coat hanger. I could actually watch the fuel guage go down as I accelerated and it would fill the cab with fumes. After about 2 months with this car, I had to do something about the exhaust pipe because it had been dragging and finally broke. The Midas guy thought I was crazy for even trying to repair it. It eventually died and I left it right where it died and gave a buddy the keys. He got it about 10 blocks and that was only because it was downhill. slambo
My first was a 64 Ford Econoline van with a 144cu in straight six. I painted a neighbors living room, dining room and hall for it. It had the advantage of being able to add water to the radiator while driving. A nice feature for a poor teenager low on funds for repairs. Hugh B Tool
First was a 65 VW Micro bus. Paid $600 bucks onit saved from money made with a paper route. Owned many many since then, but my all time favorite was a 67 SS Chevelle 396/425HP. She had matching #s, factory bench seat with the 4 on the floor. Friggin awesome. Would snap lugs if really hittin' it while speed shifting. Make a long story short, I had 7 SS's then and was about to get married and settle down. Ex wife wants me to sell most of them and especially the really fast ones. Sold her to the fiance of Queensryche's lead singer. She may have been even hotter than the car, but couldn't handle it and wrapped it around a telephone pole 3 weeks later. Both her and the car were never the same.
