Scooby
Is Jamaal Lewis worthy of being a no. 2 back on your fantasy team, or a great 3rd back?
Chavez
Given his struggles last year, I don't know that I'd feel 100% comfortable depending on him. I'd rather stick him as my #3 with potential to move up to 2.
BeeR
Yep. Don't trust him as my RB2, too costly for RB3 probably. Pass.
Goopster24
He killed me last year. That said, I could see him bouncing back. He would have to fall for me to pick him.
Avernus
he'd have to fall to the 4th round or later for me to pick him...
Flip_Side
Deffinitely will not be picking him, last year he was horrible, and this year he has Mike Anderson sharing the load also.
Raider.Nation
I'm not solid on Jamal being a no2 this season, but we'll see I guess. But here's the problem with it all. Ranking your top 24 guys (based on a 12 team league), he almost has to be a no2 rather than 3... 1-3 LJ, LT, SA 4-6 Portis, Tiki, Edge 7-11 Caddy, Ronnie Brown, Sjacks, Lamont, Rudi 12-15Westbrook, McGahee, Dom 15-18 Julius Jones, Dillon, Kjones 18+ Dunn, Droughns, Parker, Bush, Jamal The rest of the guys left are either committee backs, or have question marks as to who will start ie. Benson/Jones...

broncosn05
4th round pick. Worst starting running back in the league.

Chief Dick
He's a 4th back on your roster, and he pans out, you are a genius. If he doesn't, no harm no foul. But definitely not a 3rd.
Asskickas
Is Jamaal Lewis worthy of being a no. 2 back on your fantasy team, or a great 3rd back? Heck no. #3 until we see a couple games. We'll know what's up by week 3.
BigMikeinNY
After being my first pick in half of my leagues last year, Jamal Lewis wouldnt make 5th RB on my team this year. On my "No way in hell I draft you this year" list

Benson/Jones... In the world of Fantasy Football, we all know the value of ANY starting RB. Lewis is most by most definitions a RB2. All you guys out there claim he is going to be your 4th or 5th RB, must be playing with a bunch of 12 year olds. No way Jamal is still on your draft board past the 4th or 5th round and in most cases unless all those 12 year olds are taking their QB's in the 2nd or 3rd round, Jamal is gone by the 3rd round right after you get your RB1 and WR1. let's be honest here people, all I see is biased opinions cuz youv'e been burnt in the past by him. Last year you can blame an lingering ankle injury, old and slow O-line and a QB who didn't demand the respect of opposing Defensive Coordinators. If You are picking late in a 12 team league, you are gonna jump all over Lewis if he falls to you in the 3rd Round. With Mc Nair as QB he will atleast be able to keep LBs and Secondaries in check some of the time. He has nice weapons with Mason, Heap and Clayton. Stacking 8 in the box limited Lewis to 3.4 ypc last year. As far as Anderson stealing some of his carries, that is something that can be said about more than half of all NFL teams. (Think RBBC) Anderson was signed as nothing more than insurance and may steal a few goal line carries. He is older and slower than Jamal and why would Baltimore committ to Lewis by not resigning Taylor. I personally don't care for Lewis but if I needed a RB2 and it's the 3rd Round, I would take him in a heartbeat. If you don't agree with this then PLEASE tell me who is still going to be there for a RB2 late in the 3rd round? Almost all "Experts" including The Huddle have him rated anywhere between 15 to 24. Again by definition that is a solid RB2 esp if you're drafting late in a 10 or 12 team league.

Then I don't have to pick someone like Jamal. Edited July 25, 2006 by blips
Venus
If reports on McNair were better, I might have more confidence in Lewis. We draft 4 RB, starting 2, so Jamal would be a 2nd RB for my league.
Doc Holliday
IMO, he is a weak number 2 and good number 3.

I've done at lest two dozen 12 team mocks (most of them at Mock Draft Central) and when you pick near the 3/4 swing, you're usually looking at Lewis, Droughns, C. Taylor, Martin, F. Taylor, etc. Sometimes you get lucky and Parker, Bell, or Dunn will still be on the board, but when you look at that group of backs, you can see why a lot of people would take Lewis as their RB2 if they used on of their first two picks on Manning or a stud WR. Yeah, you can always grab the last pair of Tier 2 RBs with your first two picks, but it's really heard to leave the 1/2 swing without at least one Tier 1 bona-fide stud player, especially since you have to wait another 20-22 picks before your 3rd rounder. I would be more than happy to get Lewis as my no2 if I was in the 1.12, 2.01 swing... 1.12 Lamont Jordan/Caddy/Sjax (whomever it is) 2.01 Steve Smith/TO/CJ 3.12 Jamal Lewis 4.01 Djax/Ward

There are several running backs that I would take over him. I would even think about taking a wide receiver before Jamal Lewis. Wayyyy to risky but the potential is there (what a great word). I agree with Vatican; MAYBE 2.10 or so.
