BigMikeinNY
Starting to break down the schdule a litle bit and I am starting to notice that some VERY solid players have the same bye weeks in this upcoming season. If I have a chance to grab 2 top RB's that have the same bye weeks, I am taking them. I could care less if I lose a week during the regular season, I want my guys there to perform in weeks 15 and 16! Anyone else agree that the bye week philosophy during drafting is a little over rated? BigMike

You can end up drafting a lesser player in the early rounds. Some people swear by it but I don't. Pick the best player.
Footballjoe
I look at the bye weeks but will not pass on someone if they have the same bye as another player that I want unless it is the backup for a position. Recently in a draft I forgot to check the bye week on a backup and got burned. I think it would be nice to have all your players on the same bye week. You would be giving away one game but be at full strength the rest.
loaf
I pay attention to them. Nothing worse than finding out you've go no WRs to start this week.
Big John
If deciding on 2 closely-renked players, I will put that into consideration, but otherwise no except for the backups.
Grits and Shins
It is less of a factor for me than it used to be and especially not a factor in my dynasty leagues.
PantherDave
Yes, I pay attention do it, but if you have the option you speak of it's most likely due to someone else's bad drafting. However, if two studs can be grabbed I'd consider it and it's the same for every team(good players on bye weeks).

rattsass
Given the fact that injuries can decimate your best laid plans at ay point in the season, I don't worry too much about bye weeks. I do like the idea of trying to line your starters up for all the same bye week. It will never happen, but I do like the theory!
i_am_the_swammi
I don't really give much thought to it, except, oddly, kickers and defenses. My league requires you draft two of each, so I make sure my bye weeks don't coincide for these two positions. We have fees for trades and free agent moves, so I'd hate to have to spend $3 to pick up a kicker for a week. But other than that, for the major positions, its draft the best player available, with an eye toward (but not dependant on) the bye weeks. If there does indeed end up being a conflict, I usually deal with it thru free agency/trades when the week in question gets closer. I figure I make so many moves tinkering with my team and/or making sure others don't get quality free agents, I would never been burned by not having apt starters. That being said, I only remember one time in the last several years that I have lost a head-to-head match-up because I was starting a scrub RB (I think it was Duckett, and he ended up with 6 carries for like 20 yards). peepinmofo
I deal with bye weeks when they come. As stated above, if I have 2 players rated equally, I take it into consideration, otherwise, I take who I want and deal with bye weeks after the draft. Randall
I pay attention to them. Nothing worse than finding out you've go no WRs to start this week. In my draft in January 3 of my 4 WR's had the same bye week. We didn't know at the time when bye weeks were.

yo mama
I track them carefully, but I'll rarely let a bye week conflict keep me from drafting my targeted players. Bye week conflicts can be a tie-breaker between two players I like equally. And earlier bye weeks matter more to me than later ones. PackerFanX
Another website I subscribe to did a statistical analysis of bye weeks and for your overall record you are better off if all of your starters have the same bye week. You will lose that week but your team is at full strength every other week. With that said i typically only look at bye weeks for backups and will consider bye weeks when choosing my #2 RB or #2 WR if two players are close on my list. The Wolf
I honestly never check bye weeks until after I complete my auction/drafts. To me, best player that fills my need and I will deal with byes later on. What would make sense, although I never do it, is to know if your competitors do take this into consideration. They may not take/bid on a guy because they already have a player at the same spot having a bye week. That would help at the auction/draft. Bring Back Pat!!!
I usually check my bye weeks for one position only, quarterback. Since I know I won't be spending a top 4 or 5 pick on a QB, I look ahead at potential QB's and start looking at their bye weeks and then looking ahead to the back-ups and trying to see who might have a favorable match-up on my starters bye. For instance, if you do end up with Brady or Peyton this year, Plummer is home against OAK . I usually find a bye week "hand-cuff" for each starting QB before the draft and try to get that guy, sometimes I'll take them a round earlier as well, knowing that I won't have a bye problem. Hardrocker
Personally, I spend more time trying to decide between players based on who they play in my playoffs. I do not worry so much about bye weeks, except for my backups. But when picking between two players who are otherwise equal on my list, I look for who they play in weeks 14-16 which are my playoff weeks. If Joe Blow is going against Chicago, Tampa Bay and Carolina, and Bob Jones is going against the 49'ers, Titan's and Green Bay, I'm gonna take Bob. Early in the draft I will not pay too much attention to bye weeks but for backups and such like others have stated, the I start to take notice.
