Primetime9287
Ok guys, I have the #5 Pick in my Big $$$ League. The canidates have been narrowed down to Tiki and Edge. Here are my thoughts on each player.... Tiki 1. Age may not be a factor as he has 300 less carries in his career than Edge and little wear and tear. 2. Easier Strength of schedule in the regular season and playoffs. 3. Better O-Line and a lot stabler QB situation. 4. How many TDs will Brandon Jacobs take? (Probably the $$$ Question) 5. Could be better trade bait as more people are high on him over Edge Edge 1. Denny Green finally has his guy. 2. O-line may be bad, but I would hope Fitz and Boldin open up a few holes themselves. 3. Emmitt Smith had a pretty good season at 45 years old for Arizona. 4. Consistent every single year while in a system that was more dedicated to the pass than Arizona will be. Both look good to me. They both catch the ball out of the backfield too. Thoughts please cuz my draft is less than a week away! Thanks guys. jake_the_builder
In a non-keeper league, I like Tiki, he is just so money year after year......
tomfin2000
I would go with Tiki as well. Edge just doesn't break off big runs any more. You're going to have to rely on him getting 20 to 30 touches a game and a couple near the goalline in order to be productive as Tiki. Tiki may lose goalline carries, but he can take it to the house from anywhere on the field. Edited July 23, 2006 by tomfin2000
Asskickas
Arizona just didn't do enough about that line. I see an injury in Edge's future. Tiki is the safest and more reliable choice.
irish
Not only would I take Tiki in front of Edge I might take several other backs before him as well. Such as: Portis, Ronnie Brown, S.Jax.
Lucky Jack
Edge is running back 10 on my list (for what its worth)...I feel there is no way he cracks the top 5...not in Arizona, with that line and that history of running the ball...granted Denny is the not so new Sheriff in town...but the Cards have not had a 1000 yard back since...well...sometime before electricity! Spartans91
I believe, as well, that Tiki is your pick at #5. I would not worry to much about Jacobs. Tiki is going to get his chances near the goaline, Jacobs was not that successful last year from inside the 1-2 yard line. Edge and the Cards (and more importantly, the lofty expectations care me) - I think that team will disappoint again this year. They will need a lead for Edge to be super effective and get 20+ carries and I do not see that much improvement in the O-Line to keep Warner upright and on the D to prevent playing from behind all year. Enjoy Tiki Barber. Jeff
pirate
I'd go with Edge, Tiki is make or break, I believe NY Giants have a tougher schedule than Arizona..... Edited July 24, 2006 by pirate

Curious to know what 9 running backs you have ranked higher than Edge? Yes, I think his numbers take a hit in AZ; so much so that I am franchising Caddy and Ronnie Brown, instead of Edge....but I feel those 2 are top 10 backs. Goopster24
I'd go with Edge, Tiki is make or break, I believe NY Giants have a tougher schedule than Arizona..... I don't see why there is so much unreal hatin' on Edge. I think Edge's yardage might take a hit but he will get more touchdowns as this team was red-zone inept last year and the Colts threw the ball so much in threw the ball so much in the redzone. I think Edge is going to be solid and I will take my chance on him. Tiki is as big of a chance if you wanna go down that route. Their schedule is tough and Jacobs is there to take those short-yardage touchdowns away from him. Tiki is on the down-part of his career. I saw a crazy stat today that Emmitt Smith ran for like 900 somethin yards behind a line that was less talented than the one last year. I think Edge makes a difference. Caveat Emptor -- I'm not exactly know as the best prognosticator of RB performance...but here is how I rate the backs on my board...the numbers indicate projected fantasy points in a standard scoring format with 6 points for TDs, rushing and receiving yards rewarded at 0.1 pt per yard, no ppr. For full disclosure I start with the Football Guys projections and alter them based on my read of other projections out there including stuff I get from guys on this board and from the Huddle more formally... 1 Larry Johnson KC/3 342 2 Shaun Alexander Sea/5 320 3 Ladanian Tomlinson SD/ 308 4 Tiki Barber NYG/4 280 5 Clinton Portis Was/8 262 6 Steven Jackson StL/7 248 7 LaMont Jordan Oak/3 230 8 Rudi Johnson Cin/5 220 9 Ronnie Brown Mia/8 218 10 Edgerrin James Ari/9 196 With ppr...Westbrook pushes up and Edge pushes up some....maybe displacing Ronnie or Rudi from the list, I have not run the numbers... I don't think there is any hatin on Edge. Most people would be fine with him as their #1, but if I had to choose between the 2, I'm going with Tiki. I think he is a little bit of a safer pick. You know he is going to put up good numbers and like has already been said, he can take it to the house at any given time. Edge is a very solid player and if I end up with him on any teams, I won't be disappointed. But...going to Arizona does downgrade him some in my mind. Emmitt running for 937 yards in 15 games is only about 62 yards per game or 3.5 ypc. I realize that Edge will put up better numbers than that, I just wanted to show that 937 wasn't really very much. KUBJPO01
obviously, questions and uncertainty surrounding both; Edge's OL questionable and too many offensive weapons in AZ. Tiki could lose goal line carries to Jacobs and isn't getting any younger. All things considered, I'd take Tiki b/c he's proven he can get you the #'s in his offense over and over again. Edge...well, we don't know what we're getting yet.

I made that point to show that Emmitt far less talent then what Edge will have next year. The offensive line will get better and I think Edge will help that.
