I will stick around as for a newb yea to this site but to FFl and NFL knowledge not even close.

So, take a little time to find out who the "homer experts" are. This site has some very, very good ones. I'd list them for you, like spain on the Titans, but that would be too easy. I'll be honest.... when you called Pennington noodle arm.... when he has looked better than he EVER has so far in TC this year, in terms of arm strength.... you got on my wrong side. I've seen him throw. Not just this year, but since his rookie year, at TC. Whether or not you choose to put any credibility in what I post about the Jets is your option, but I'll repeat.... Pennington's arm strength is NOT the issue this year. It's whether or not he can take a hit.

That's a problem you'll run into here pretty often and it's quite lame - peeps tend to think that those with low post counts don't know what they're talking about (as if the Huddle is the center of all fantasy football knowledge and that nobody who hasn't posted here much could possibly be knowledgable). Even worse, they also tend to think that those with high post counts must know what they're talking about (as if posting on these boards somehow makes one smarter) - it's idiocy.

DISCLAIMER - this post had nothing to do with Rovers (or anyone in particular, for that matter), as I've never even encountered the dude before.

He is coming off shoulder surgery, of course his arm strength is a question, it has been since he came out of the college level I dont understand how you disagree with that. Anytime you watch ESPN either PTI, around the horn, sportscenter or anything else when Pennington is brought up it is always about the strength in his arm. Anyone agree?? If im wrong then im wrong but I dont think I am

When it comes to the Jets... yeah, I do know more than "just about" anyone that isn't connected to the team. Like Hook knows more than just about anyone when it comes to the Colts. Stick around newb... read, and learn.

Big Ben, the first thing these so called experts do when they disagree with anything you say is call you a newbie. These vets feel like since they have been talking smack for years or drop a lot of posts it makes their opinions more credible than others. I've personally been using the huddle for years but decided to be vocal on the message board this year and ran into the same arrogance with Rover boy. He's very sensative about Chad Pennington. He'll tell you all day long about how strong his arm "looks" in camp and that his biggest concern is if he can take a hit. Well guess what Rover, Chad's weak arm will always be an issue and we all know he's softer than a twinkie. He also hates Herm even though he directed the Jets to the playoffs a few times in 5 years (not bad at all).

Now I do applaud Rovers knowledge of the Jets and his passion as a fan but don't insult everyone who disagrees with anything you have to say. After all, at the end of the day, you're probably just some 30+ something chump living in you're Momma's house in Long Island taking up the 3rd bedroom decorated with Jet memorabilia. I bet your all-time favorite Jet is Wayne Chrebet. You probably think he's a demi-god and wear his raggedy ass Jersey three days a week.

As for the Jets RB situation, seriously, who cares. Whoever comes out of that stinkhole could be a decent RB3 but that's it. I will be watching Houston, though because he has potential and could provide some depth.

Well i don't really agree with this much at all. Does it happen, yes. But if you come in flaming or bashing, we're gonna come right back. If you put out some knowledge or put out some reason to back up what you are saying then I'd like to see some posts where you or anyone were ragged on calling you a noob when you had a valid point/argument.

Geeze, this is like a job interview.

In 2004, I told anyone who would listen that Martin would be a top five RB..... and he won the rushing title.

On the flip side, I also thought he would remain top ten last year, but didn't know that half the O line would get hurt, and that Martin would have a serious knee injury. Last year I said Pennington's deep stuff was weak.... but I thought he would get stronger. Can't say I was wrong there.... he went down with a hit.

One can really gauge a team when you see them in TC. Up close. Injuries are impossible to predict. However, if Herman Edwards runs soft camps in KC, I predict they will have a rash of serious injuries too.

Again, Pennington's arm strength is NOT in question this year. It's his ability to get hit. Pennington never threw rockets, but his arm was adequate. It actually looks stronger than it did in his rookie year now. The game tomorrow night will prove me out.... I hope you are here to discuss it. The newbie comment? Yes, a worn out and often bogus attack.... ran into the same thing when I first got here. Sort of a hazing. Buck up.

While I won't win any more popularity votes around here, I did get voted best newb of the year my first year at this site. Did pretty good in the "homer of the year" voting too. If you know who to listen to here, you will get info you won't find elsewhere. Get Brad Smith if you are a dynasty player. Cotchery will beat out McCariens for the #2 WR spot. Tell me I was wrong in two months.

I'm not talking about myself - not sure if I've ever been called a "noob", but if I was it was likely 2 years ago (when I was actually new to posting here) - not about to waste time searching for posts on topic, either. I'm just commenting on what I've observed over the past few years - while some people get torched deservedly for making stupid posts, others have been killed simply b/c they had a different (but valid) viewpoint. Not talking about you either, as I've never had an issue with you. There are certainly a few people on here who like to act like they're gods b/c of their post counts, though - I'm sure you can agree with that. Maybe my perception is skewed a bit because the people I'm talking about post so much - it's certainly not an issue with a large number of posters.

Neither. The Jets are a bad, bad team. If you HAVE to choose one, I would pick Houston. He had a decent last half of '05.

:D great post, its 100% true. He can call me a newb all he wants but I know I have more knowledge outside of a (below average) jets organization.

In case nobody in here knew Rovers is a Jets Guru.

By the way good luck with Pennington this year :D

Thats the case here, I posted that Pennington has a weak arm and then i get called a noob for it. How does it make me a noob? (according to rovers i am) I guess everyone on ESPN are noobs as well for making the same comment.

I agree with you there are a few people who like to act as if their gods of their favorite teams. If you make a comment about their team (even if its a valid argument) be prepared for the noob title.

Nobody in here can say anything bad about Pennington unless you want to feel the wrath of Rovers

Oh yeah! Watch this.

Peenisington sux big fat donkey balls.

If you put a wet paper bag stretched tight, right in front of him, he couldn't throw the football through it from 10' away. Noodle arm is too good a comparison for this hack. His shoulder is held together with chewing gum & rubber bands.

How's that?

First, you haven't been here a month yet, so technically you are a noob. Second, you will find that there are a number of people on this board that quite frankly know a hell of a lot more about their teams than the talking heads at ESPN. Rovers is one of these guys. When he speaks regarding the Jets, I listen, and listen hard. I'd put a lot more into what he says than some talking head that is covering 32 teams. Now if Rovers was trying to convence me that Big Ben was then next Joe Montana, I'd laugh in his face an tell him that there is no way that stupid oaf has the intelligence to be anything near what Montana was, but Rovers knows the Jets no the The only 6 time Super Bowl Winners and YOUR DADDY. There are some people that are blind homers, and are people you just ignore, and there are others that give it to you straight regarding their teams. Rovers is one that gives it to you straight. You will find several people on this board that go to their teams training camps on a daily basis to watch and report back. Some may not go to all that practices, but are read all the local accounts as well as the national accounts regarding their teams on both the web and in papers.

I'm no noob, but I rarely question Rovers on the Jets, Spain on the Titans, Captain Hook on the Colts, Rajin on the Aints, and if I thought hard about it I could probably name a few more.

Soooooo....

Hypothetically speaking If I'm in a keeper league and Im keeping LJ, Ronnie Brown and have the option of one:

Houzman... and lose the 6th rd pick or

Cedric Houston and lose the 12th round pick

when we can start 3 RB's

I dam-well better keep Houston

....hypothetically speaking of course...is that the consensus here then?

I believe that he knows what hes talking about when it comes to the Jets but it dosnt take any trips to TC to figure out that after having shoulder surgery that his arm strength is an issue. If a pitcher has surgury on the arm then the major concern is if he can still throw with the same velocity without reinjuring himself. Am I right? I know football is different than baseball but in both sports pitchers and QBs throw, so it would make sense after shoulder surgery that his arm strength is more of a concern than taking a hit. I do believe Rover knows alot about the jets but this is just common sense, right?

It is not uncommon today for pitchers to throw harder after the surgery than they did before the injury that caused the surgery to be necessary. However, this results not because of the surgery itself, but from the rigorous rehabilitation that ensues following surgery.

I've personally known a LB that had an blown ACL and a year later was running the 40 faster than he ever had. Some times commons sense is wrong. Depending on his rehabilitiation, he could have more arm strengt than he had before.

I would have to agree. While Pennington's arm might look good NOW, who's to say what it's going to look like after he's got several hundred more tosses under his belt? Can his shoulder take the strain in the long run? Any body part that's undergone 2 major surgeries basically back-to-back like that has got to have durability questions going forward - very tough to say right now. What isn't tough to say is that his shoulder should be a concern.

"Sometimes" being the key word. I think that the instances you're talking about are in the minority, meaning that most of the time a surgically repaired joint (especially a shoulder) comes back somewhat weaker and is more prone to injury than it was before. If that's what happens more often than not, I'd say there's cause for concern with a shoulder that's been repaired twice in a span of 3 years. He might look good now, but we'll see how the shoulder holds up under the rigors of a full TC and the season.
