i_am_the_swammi
Marion Barber rushed 7 times for 37 yards against the 1st team defense of the improved Vikings. Granted, a couple were draws out of their third-down package that surprised the Vikes, but a 5.2 average looks good..... especially compared to JJ's pathetic line of 8 rushes for -2 yards. He did have a nice reception for some quality yards, but Barber certainly looked like he had more jump in his step. JJ did less than nothing to ease any FF owner's fears. Giants56
He won't be on any roster of mine. Think he'll have a few big games but any time he's struggling he'll be replaced. Too high in most rankings in my opinion
Jimmy Neutron
Jones looks lost and slow. I have Barber in several leagues and Jones in none.

DMD
I watched the entire game. What you have to take into account is that the MIN front four is very good this year and was stuffing Jones at times before he could even take one step. They hit him once as he was getting the hand off. Jones numbers are mostly reflective of how good the MIN front line played. Barber did not get his numbers against that front. At halftime, Jones had eight rushes for -2 yards and Barber only had one carry for one yard. Everything positive Barber did doesn't count because it came after Jones and the Min defensive starters were out of the game.
Jimmy Neutron
I still like Barber better. Jones doesn't seem to be running head down like he did when he was more effective.
TheCMB
I'm not a JJ fan but felt pretty good about landing him at 5.02 tonight, until I waited too long on Barber and someone else snagged him at 10.03, 8 picks before I was going to take him... I also got Thomas Jones in the 6th and the SAME GUY snaked me out of Bensen!

LooGie
I'm staying away from DAL RBs at all costs this year (along with DEN) Too many possibilites and just not worth it IMO.
Chargerz
I took JJ in one of my BOTH leagues this year, but I was also careful to draft Barber as well. It just made sense.
Doc Holliday
I think everyone will wish they had not passed on Jones once the season starts. he has a cake schedule and if he does not get hurt he will be a very solid RB this year. Only thing that sucks is his value is still to get lower as he starts the season off in Jville who should stuff the Dallas running game. Sound, sound advice. The only reason anyone would discuss dallas or denver backs is because they got stuck with them at their drafts and are now trying to rationalize their failure to actually capture someone worth a damn. Lonestar39
DMD is right on about what he saw in the game. JJ was getting hit before he could even get a step it seemed on a few of those carries. The other odd thing is they kept swinging JJ out to the right and he is not an east-west runner. The starting OL for Dallas last night just didn't do a good job against the starting Minn DL. Regardless, with what I perceive will be a mediocre OL neither running back will be a top 15 RB but both will continue to rotate pretty evenly throughout the season. If the offensive line was better I still stink that Jones would be the primary back, but with this mess I just can't tell.

kwolf68
Or they play in a league with more than 4 people in it. Yea that's it...FOUR. Whatever the case, all these guys will be drafted, but one should temper their enthusiasm for them and certainly don't put yourself into position where you team revolves around either of these situations. Dallas CANT RUN the ball right now and Shanahan is well...being Shanahan. The last comment he had on the Broncos RB situation was..."I AM CONFUSED". Dude acts confused, when he's NOT confused. Neither Barber nor Jones are clearly good enough to take the reigns or one of them would have by now. They are both solid, unspectacular players with strengths and weaknesses and Parcells is going to try to massage them both while probably relying on the passing game and defense more often this year. I liked Jones, Barber and Tuna's philosophy...so much so, I invested in them last year. However, I believe Tuna has two good, not great, but good backs he can count on...neither clearly superior to the other and thus BOTH will take turns at the troth. Good luck if you have them, but I wouldn't want them for anything other than a caddy to someone like LT, LJ or Shaun.

Am seiously hoping it shakes out and JJ is getting the bulk of carries I am not scared of him at all Wildcat. Barber is a 3rd down back IMO and nothing more. The only problem is..as I said before. his 1st game is against JVille..his 2nd game against Washington. so the Jones bashing is just getting started. it will be between weeks 4-7 (he has a bye in week 3)where Jones will come out and start doing his thing. mroban
Dallas as a very good rushing schedule this year. Jones should have room to run especially first 6 games. I have him on one of my teams and another owner snagged Barber which pissed me off. My third RB is Mike Bell so... i think Im going to have a lot of hand wringing this year. I will no doubt always start the wrong back...the week Bell goes off, JJ will go 10-20 and get replaced by Barber who will have 2 TDs. But unless Jones gets hurt (always a possibility) then it will be really difficult to predict when Barber will have a big game. So I still see Barber as more injury insurance than anything else. Jones is the starter until someone tells me otherwise.
Big Score 1
The split in carries between JJ & Barber will shake out at 66% to JJ & 33% to Barber. Same as last year and what Parcells has been saying will happen from the beginning of this year. Only way either one sees an increase in their % of carries, is by injury to the other. Riffraff
Subtract the stats from the following: Game 1: Anything after the 10 minute mark of Quarter 1. Game 2: Anything after the first half. Game 3: Anything after the first half. Game 4: Anything after the opening kickoff. With the starters on the field, see what the stats say about the Dallas run game. All the rest is seeing who is going to make the team.
