jetsman2806
ok just wondering what everyone thinks here, with Jake Delhomme, i know its only week 1 but Steve Smiths injury looks like a nagging season long injury which could hamper his stats, so I was looking into maybe dealing Jake Delhomme later on into the season like maybe week 7 to the owner who has Marc Bulger. Bulger has a easier schedual in the playoff weeks what do you all think about this move? at the moment I dont have a backup QB as my origional plan was to ride Delhomme to his bye week. Chavez
Usually you should give more than 24 minutes for a response. But as for Delhomme - eh, I think he'll be fine. In 03, Car had a strong run game and STEVE SMITH was just Steve Smith - Delhomme had 3200 yds and 19 tds. Not great, but solid. In 04, run game was awful and Smith was down - Delhomme managed 3800 yds and 29 tds. In 05, run game was back to adequate and Smith was back, Delhomme averaged the two years with 3500 and 25. I think when all is said and done, Smith or no Smith, he'll end up pretty close to his 05 numbers. Key Johnson is VERY similar to Muhsin Muhammad, who tore it up with Delhomme in 04. Please don't tell me Keyshawn Johnson will get the 1405 yds and 16 TDs that Mush had in 04.... you must be smoking crack... he might get half that..... They are similar players. But no, I wasn't insinuating he would be good for 1405 and 16. But if Smith is out, I can see 1100 yds and 8-10 tds. He's a good red zone threat and has enough speed to sneak deep on occasion.
Gros Membres!
Delhomme's numbers take a shot, no doubt. But I'd stay pat.
Grogansghost
the Bulger owner will also be aware of his playoff schedule so why would he want to trade him at that point? The reason people would draft Bulger this year is because of the soft schedule, and then thinking that he might actually make it through a season without Martz there to kill him - of course it won't be the greatest show on turf, but he still has receiving weapons. Exactly right. I looked at the schedule and his weapons and that's what convinced me to draft him. Of course, given his injury history, he needed a solid backup, which I think Bledsoe more than qualifies for. I just don't see what the Bulger owner is getting in this trade. IMO, he gives up the better QB. If you have any chance to make a deal, it won't be straight up. Find another need of his and fill it...and make sure you have a solid backup with Bulger on board.
