SteelerMurf
KJ vs. Chicago: He gets all carries and gets a lot of catches out of the backfield. But I think vs. Chicago his ceiling is about 80 combined yards and no TDs like last week. But he does pretty much play every down and will get goalline if they ever get there. Maroney vs. Jets Jets last year was bad against the run. I think the Pats get an early lead and if they are running the clock out at the end of the game, I think they do it with the younger Moroney. But he comes out on 3rd down and may not get goalline. Go with the RBBC and good matchup (Maroney) or the all round back with a tough matchup (KJOnes)? NON PPR and performance based scoring Edited September 16, 2006 by SteelerMurf

mcm
Big Questions on KJ - Go Maroney - he's a bull and will at least split carries..... I'm from Detroit, so its always difficult for me in regards to players on the Lions. And to top that off, I have both R Williams and Kitna! Maroney is going to split carries, but will probably end up with as many carries as K Jones. K Jones is now in a Martz offense, which should be favorable for him, but last week showed they didn't quite have it down, and they are playing on the road in Chicago this week. Chicago has a good defense, but I think Green Bay is so bad, that Chicago looked better than they truly are. I think Maroney is the safer bet here. K Jones may have a little more upside potential, but not enough to start over Maroney.

NON PPR and performance based scoring I would probably go Maroney as well. I don' t think the Lions will be sniffing the goal line all day against the Bears. If the Lions had trouble scoring against Seattle, they will have more trouble scoring against the Bears. I also don't have a lot of faith in Corey Dillion and really see Maroney taking the reigns and becoming the feature back sooner than later. Square
I'm a bit of a Lions fan as well and I'd start Maroney. I think he'll get more opportunities for both yards and points than Detroit will against Chicago. I have hope for this detroit team, but it is definitely more of a gamble to go with Jones. They'd be a good bet against a weaker team D, but Chicago is still the gold standard until proven otherwise. Hope this helps. Steelhead
Maroney. He is the real deal and should get about just as much carries as Jones, if not more if Dillon gets hurt...which will happen.
Gros Membres!
Maroney. Wait a week on KJ. He should be fine.

tomfin2000
bump, little more input please I have both, and I would start Maroney this week and every week over Jones until I see something other than mediocrity from KJ. It's not always about the number of touches. Sometimes it's about what the player can actually do with them.
djryan21
maroney will begin to phase out dillon week by week. kj has been average at best. maroney has more upside and the ability to take one to the house djr.
Grits and Shins
Maroney has much bigger upside and may get as many touches as KJ. I roll with Maroney.
SteelerMurf
I went to the NFL.com play by play and counted 22 touches/targets for Maroney and 25 for Kjones. That is about as equal as I can think. So if they get equal touches, why not go with the better matchup. Only downfall for Maroney is he probably doesn't get the goalline touches. ZacSam
I like Maroney against the Jets and would stay away from KJones until he proves himself worthy of a start. http://forums.thehuddle.com/index.php?showtopic=168948

Man, I hope you are right on that phase out stuff. It can not happen soon enough for me. I would not play KJ until he shows me something, period. MU Cowboy
Thanks for responding to my question. I tend to lean towards Maroney against the Jets. NE should be able to run against the Jets and u know how I feel about going against the Chicago D. Good Luck!
