TimC
Ummm. We were like... . We have a core of about 7-8 quality players that play every month. The guy hosting it wanting to get more people so decided to lower the buy-in. Hugh mistake there obviously. The Democrats and troglodytes somehow scraped up the money and came out. The real problem is some weird guy bought his wife to deal since he "hates to deal and play". I don't organize this and am not sure if he asked the host or not. He made a huge speech when he walked in about any disagreements being settled by the players (I chimed in that we normally fight to the death). The kicker was he said she would accept tips. TIPS!!!????? We normally bring large demonation bills and not our pocket change to throw a buck or a few quarters at some dealer for giving you pocket Queens. The guy was a horrible player. He played online at Party Poker and actually brought brochures and a free $25 promotion they send to hand out. I wanted to stab him in the chest with a trident right then and there. He barely lasted 2 rounds before bluffing off his chips with no hand 10-8 offsuit after I hit my frush on the river. This ain't the internnets, boy. And, yes, she didn't even have nice cans or bring sammiches. None of the regulars knew what to make of it. I ended up going out in 5th place and basically getting blinded off, I was so shaken by this breach of etiquette on our manhood.
The Holy Roller
Did they stay after he went out? What was she wearing? Was he a or just a ? This situation has so many possibilities.

Squeegiebo
I NEVER play cards with a wife/girlfriend at the table. I woulda made an excuse and left as soon as she walked in the f'n door. Why?
Zeke 1982
Why? A woman has her place...and it sure aint the card table. Unless it is bridge at the club. Stay in the kitchen honey.
TimC
They stayed since we play two games. She was quiet and demure which at least was appropriate. He was loud and obnoxious. She was wearing a yellow shirt which revealed absolutely no cleavage. Did I mention the host's wife works part time at the local lingerie shop and bought us two new decks of Hustler and Playboy cards which he didn't want her to use? The host's wife comes in at the beginning while we're setting up and says hi, sets the chicken wings and chips out and promptly leaves. Bless her. Quietly flipping the Ace of Spades through someone's jugular should be legal at all card games. Edited September 16, 2006 by TimC
Big F'n Dave
Why? A card table (especially an established game among men) is a refuge from wives and girlfriends. You wouldn't want a bunch of guys crashing your Tupperware parties and quilting bees, would you?

Skippy
Not the same thing at all, Squeegie. I do plenty of things with my wife but at the card game with the guys the guys pretty much want to be guys. I know a lot of women can handle guys being guys but most guys won't be the same way when there are women present. I have an all male card game and none of us would bring a wife. Zeke 1982
Why is it different? it is not...he is just like those guys on the beer commercials. He is about to get hit with a large beer can. Don't you have a fashion show to attend?
Big F'n Dave
Why is it different? Here, everyone is anonymous. If I want to imagine everyone here like I imagine you (5-2, 105 pounds, blond hair, blue eyes, wearing a white t-shirt and black panties, giggling seductively every time you read one of my quips), I can. At a card table where you're face-to-face, you don't have that option.
cheezhed
I assume that "new guy" was 1 and done as far as invites go. Edited September 16, 2006 by cheezhed
