Skilly
+1 I still have no idea what all that was supposed to be about, or the ending, or why anybody did anything in that movie. I'll never get those two hours back.
cliaz
you are nutz. that is an awesome movie. BUT maybe it's because I tend to enjoy movies with moods and atmosphere to them than action and jump out horror. Movies like Slient Hill, Syriana, Traffic, etc. I dig those. I'm a huge fan of the games as well.
H8tank
ok clitspaz, explain the plot? I have since read it was based on a video game, so I should have known why there was basically no plot. Answer me this, if she got burned in 1974, 9 years old, how does she have a 9 year old daughter in 2005? Visuals were pretty good, I was hoping for something, but it ended up just another stupid hollyflick. And Bier, that 4th guy I couldn't remeber, was Marc Wahlberg. cliaz
Okay – basically the plot is this… The small west Virginia town was a coal mining town who a majority of the population were religious fanatics (just think the Phelps family from Kansas). Most of the town’s shop owners, mayor, etc were hardcore bible bashers and since the town was remote and not influenced by the modern world the fanatics were going nuts. There was this lady (the freaking looking old lady that talked to rose when she first got into silent hill when she was standing next to the cliff.) who had a child out of wedlock and the town was shunning her. They pretty much force her to hand over the kid to the towns religious leaders because the child was a bastard and they wanted to purify the sin that had been created. During the purification process an accident happened where a big metal bowl that had coal burning in the center of it was knocked over starting a fire which in turned burn the girl pretty bad. Since most of the police, mayor etc where in that group of bible bashers they child was taken to the hospital and they tried to help her out but she was grossly burned. As the girl lay in his hospital bed she was swelling with anger and hate which opened her up to be possessed by a demon who started killing off people. The girl in the beginning of the movie was nothing more than all the good that remain from the girl in the bed who was burned. The demon had taken all that was left in her and manifested it into a child (the little girl) who lived in that orphanage (they do not explain when the demon did this so they never explain how if the event happened in 1974 when the girl was created.) When that accident happened some of the fire that caught the church and other buildings on fire got down into the sewer system which in turn was exposed to a vein of coal so there is now a coal fire burning under the town and it had to be cleared out. Hence that is why the town is foggy and has ash falling everywhere. The whole town it self is a purgatory for all of those who remained in the town that were involved in the ritual against the kid. The old lady that walks around cannot be touched by the darkness because of her neglect as a mother. She gave up her child willingly so her will was broken and neither the darkness nor the church would or could touch her. Now the ending wasn’t what I would have put in place but it is constant with the games and setting it up for part II. Once you enter Silent Hill you are forever stuck in that ethereal world. She traveled out of the town and back home but her and her daughter are both stuck in that shadow world. Basically they are dead. In the 2nd game the husband gets a letter from his “dead” wife two years after she died. It asks him to come to Silent Hill. Here are some picture of what a town really looks like when there is a coal fire burning under it. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&sa=N...e%20Fire&tab=wi
Vote Quimby2
Watched about thirty minutes of it. I would of stopped at twenty, but thought the cop may get topless. After another ten minutes i didn't feel that was even worth it.
